I'm a huge NHRA fan and about 8 years ago we got VIP passes to the Phoenix race and into Tony Petregons camp. We had full access to their camp which included food, bus access and seeing and talking to Tony and all his crew. Watching them tear down the dragster between races, that was a work art! Each member has a job from tearing it down, inspect and replace and put it back together. It's like watching a surgeon perform an operation but much faster.I saw that F1 movie when it first came out; I knew about pit crews and stuff, but never realized just how big the "behind the scenes" teams were.
I'm trying to get VIP passes to next year's Phoenix race because they're (NHRA) doing a 50 anniversary celebration for John Force who's my all time favorite racer. So far I'm striking out because the guy I got them from last time has retired and doesn't have all the contacts but he's trying.
