Ranger is gone. It is currently sitting on a used lot for the same sticker price it had new... 2 years and 28k miles later. No joke... wow. However they need to recoup what they gave me. They may have tried to steal my keys the day before the deal was done and my former Army self used a bit of how to be loud training to my advantage. After making a scene in their lobby... that caused the owner to call me. Then I got a stupid good deal. A bit more than what I actually paid for the Ranger factoring in a crap trade. So I sort of borrowed it in a way for two years. Then a mark down on the other ride.

Long list or reasons for doing what I did and when. Total lack of confidence in its down the road reliability was a big one. Sorry for anyone who is super in love with the truck. Not knocking all of them. Knocking mine specifically.

This forum was an intresting mix of super helpful friendly experts on Rangers that made life with it much better. Contrasted by buttheads that kept it interesting.

Selling what I yanked off it before it went in/what they didn't factor on the trade. Got way to much for it not wanting to shift into 5th anymore. Maybe they didn't test drive it in a way that it tried to use it or didn't care. Either way; out of the truck game and back in a hatch/suv thing. Saving a good bit of money on note, insurance, gas, and even if it's slower it actually sounds like an engine when I give it any gas and not a demonic sewing machine.

Good luck everyone.

Sadly, we will have a new member here in short order, with a new to him Ranger and a 5th gear problem.
If you see them - wish them better luck with the warranty and or just drive like a lunatic. It would use 5th normally/without issue when hauling ass. I'll be around to see the parts I had on it.

I should have fought harder earlier on the issue they kept saying is normal. Even now.... that isn't normal....

What are you driving now ?
Id like hear more about the key incident ?

I'm on the fence about long term reliability as well. So far it’s been good.
And I dont have a love affair with my vehicles either. I take care of them, and trade or sell them after I pay them off.

2024 Tucson SEL; my 10th Hyundai with my only major failure ever was my 2014 Elantra GT I traded on the Ranger; the Elantra lost some compression on number 2 at 158k of driving like a moron. That includes a 2003 I ran nitrous on at the track pretty often years and fewer kids ago (if you don't count the trans being a bit noisy when it went to charity for parts on that one as a major failure - it was about to let go) Probably gonna get some hate thanks to the Theta II failures they recently created when someone skipped a step - that and the originals that were really Mitsubishi. I cross shopped a few smaller SUV things (Edge, Envista, CX-5, CRV, Yota) and I just liked the Tucson the most. So it wasn't exactly a brand loyalty thing. Then the following happened and sealed it.

They played the "we lost your key" game to try and keep me their longer; I didn't like the first deal and was walking. After asking nicely 3 times for my keys so I could go back to work.. the 4th - the guys in the shop itself from the main lobby heard me when I demanded my keys and congratulated them on a lost deal. I walked off with the paper they originally handed me with the breakdown on the first offer. It had stuff like my truck as an XL and way down on value, the Texas $400 EV registration tack on that started in September (it is not even a hybrid...), etc etc etc. I was planning on going to look at an Escape the next day when they might finally get a 4cyl vs the 3. Then the owner of the key thief dealership called. After I explained the key situation (the real reason he called) and ripped their paperwork apart (took some time to be a turbo asshole as other math was wonky). I got a new document sent to me from him and a call from his finance guy. Up on the trade (4k up from the original offer of 22) and down on the car being bought (down 2k from the 1.5k discount they had on it) - with all the other BS removed... they stuck with that and event took the tint charge off - even if they couldn't remove the darker tint. They did try and hard sell the extra warranties but I politely declined.

ALL of that said.

I've never had a brand new car/truck that held positive equity from the moment it left the lot until trade. So that 2wd Ranger had that going for it the entire time I drove it. What a market we are in right now eh?

I asked and got more for my 5G than I paid for it then it was new. Took a little time to sell it but mine was bought and prepared for easy selling process one day.

Unfortunately it has a 2.3 that is or will be on the 6g - and the 10R60, but I returned to Ford a few days ago. Accidently found one of my own posts here when i was on Google, looking for more detailed info on the 2.3 MPC that and an old review of an explorer I had as a loaner. So I logged in to say hello.

The Tucson was great but I saw a deal that was too good to pass up. 29k for a "new" explorer. Dealership run about that had 3k on the odo.

Holy crap this SUV can move and on a typical run to work is pretty close mpg to the little guy I had.. that can still kick the crap out of it on a straight highway run. Just 2 seconds behind on a run to the 1/4.. and I have a third row.

Researching the stats at https://xn-----6kcckd0aibbcbol0bqf7ac5bb.com/ confirms that this title is classified as a low volatility game which is great for beginners. The star scatter is a powerful tool because it does not need to follow the fixed payline rules to award a prize. You can choose to bet between 20 and 400 credits depending on your comfort level and the size of your wallet. Many experts suggest that playing the maximum bet does not increase the RTP but it does make the jackpots more significant. My final piece of advice is to never gamble with money that is meant for your daily living expenses.
Welcome back to the Ford family! That's a steal at 29k for a new Explorer, dealership demos are such a good hack if you catch the right deal. Crazy how that 2.3 punches above its weight, being only 2 seconds off the quarter with a full-size SUV is no joke. Bet that third row is a game changer too after coming from the Tucson. Hope the 10R60 treats you better than it has some folks.
