2021 Ranger is paid off, a year early! I could have paid it off quicker. But Ford interest on the loan was 1.9, not horrible.

Now to start looking for something new. No idea what route I'll go. Put together a plan old XLT 4WD with a locking rear end. Figure if I need it later, I'll go aftermarket for suspension. Also spec'd a Colorado trail boss, and Tacoma TRD off road. All within roughly $2000.00 of each other, Chevy and Ford near the same price, Toyota tax made the Tacoma the most.

I'll most likely stay mid-size, still thinking a tear drop camper down the road. Bought some land recently and will need a tactor 25 HP or around there. Most look like they weigh 1500 pounds on average. I probably won't have to haul it much but, you never know.

I'd like to find a 2023 Tremor. Transmission issues been worked out of the 23 line?

I have wrestled with the idea when I got the engine replacement last year at 50k miles but in the end, I just prefer my '21 XLT Tremor over what is available.

My thoughts were:
1: Ranger Raptor
2: Chevy/GMC mid size (a lot of nice trims but interior colors stop me)
3: MAYBE 2025 XLT FX4 w/2.7L
4: Tahoe AT4

Hands down I think the new 6g Ranger has the best mid-size engine options and I think I would stick with a Ranger for that reason alone but I am waiting for a USA Tremor before I think any further since my truck is doing good now. Put a little money into it for upgrades and it gave it new life. AC compressor went out so I got that new and the HVAC/Heater box assembly which fixed the stepper motor click I had. Just these two major repairs kinda suck, thankfully for warranty.

I just can't see myself going from a XLT Tremor to XLT FX4 for more money than what I paid due to leaf springs and shocks being way better on the Tremor. I also dont like the traction mode dial in the 6g since I usually drive in Tow Haul or Sport mode.

The 2.7L in a Ranger must feel amazing though, it feels great in an F150 so I can only imagine in the Ranger.

I would enjoy the no payments, I have been thinking of paying mine off early since I am within 12mo but eh, interest is not bad either and money in the bank is better for me right now.

Congrats on paying your truck off early! I'm still paying for mine while modifying it a little bit at a time, hint (budget build). Lol!

+1 for the 2023 XLT Tremor idea.. I loved mine when it was stock.. could’ve been happy if it stayed that way too… but mini monster truck is also something I could be happy with šŸ˜…..
Pretty much the only route to go after the 23’ Ranger Tremor is to the Ranger Raptor..
After August 16th 2022 rangers got the updated drum in the transmission.
Ranger Raptor should be able to pull a trailer that can hold your tractor if you warrant 2500lb trailer and 1500lb tractor I believe that leaves you at approximately 70-75% of the RR’s max towing. (I think it’s like 5300lb M/T)
That’s only a concern if you went the RR route though…

Congrats on paying off the truck btw.

Yeah, no RR route for me. The tremor is complete overkill, for what I need. I just liked it.

Congrats! You paid off your Ranger and you want to go back into debt again. Why? Run that bitch into the ground and pay cash for your next vehicle. Why pay anyone interest? For that matter. Why not use the Ranger until it's unusable? Invest what would be a truck payment into a low-cost ETF like VTI or VT and earn an average of 10 percent per year and retire early? just saying.

That's gotta feel good. Once mine gets there,,, I'm gonna keep driving it till something major breaks. I'll be in no hurry to have another car payment. I may just buy another one and leave it "as-is"...

I've only seen 1 RR that I would want,,, and even that 1 isn't ideal. The mileage is too high and it has those horrible graphics.

I am retired, this present job is just living and fun money.
I’m not one to run a vehicle in the ground.
I pay them off and move on to something else.
I’m not in any rush to go buy something this week for sure.

Congrats on paying off your truck!

I tend to switch up my vehicles every few years - the torque of those hybrid tacomas is pretty cool. I’ll be keeping an eye on that drivetrain’s reliability.
