Looking for a trailer brake controller for my '19 Ranger. Preferably NIB.

I have not. I will do some research to check into that and see if it will provide a solution to my needs.Have you looked into the Curt Bluetooth controller?
Hey NeilP,Have you looked into the Curt Bluetooth controller?
Hey Ace,Just read up on it and watched a few videos on YouTube. You have to keep pressing the button on your phone to activate the brakes? That seems to be very distracting while driving.
I honestly just did a quick Google search about it and watched the first video I found for it on YouTube. I didn't watch it all the way when I saw the person pressing the button to apply the brakes lol.Hey Ace,
The way I found it to be is autonomous once it is configured. Loss of bluetooth connection or closure of the app does not impair the braking function. There is an option to provide manual brake activation by pressing the button on the app for special circumstances but this is not required for general use.
Do you have the link of the video you watched? I'd like to watch it myself if possible.
Thanks!
That is a valid concern as there isn't a way to truly lock it in place. One more piece of "luggage" to carry into where ever I'm stopped at right? Lol We will see how it works out!I honestly just did a quick Google search about it and watched the first video I found for it on YouTube. I finally went to the curt website and read up about it more. Seems to be simple enough. My only worry would be is when I stop somewhere and walk away from the vehicle, it’s not going to be there when I get back lol!
Personally the bigger concern is the fact that you need to use the app to manually apply the brake. If you get in a situation the requires that, you don't really have time to be messing with your phone. I know those situations don't happen often, but when they do, it can be disastrous. That is a valid concern as there isn't a way to truly lock it in place. There is a secondary button that can be purchased separately and used as desired. I do see some areas that can be improved, however for the ease and customization, it's a novel idea. We will see how it works out at least in the short term, I can always go hardwired later.Personally the bigger concern is the fact that you need to use the app to manually apply the brake. Give me a hard wired controller with a button or lever to activate the brakes.
Cool, I did not know that button existed. Now I have something else to spend $$ on!There is a secondary button that can be purchased separately and used as desired.
