I have not. I will do some research to check into that and see if it will provide a solution to my needs.

Hey NeilP,

I've looked it up. Do you have personal experience with this product? It looks pretty amazing for the simplicity alone.

I do have one. I plugged it in and paired it with my phone, but I have not towed with it yet. I didn't want to have to deal with mounting a permanent controller or with having to tear the interior of my Ranger apart to install the Redarc unit.

I do have a friend that has one that he uses to tow his 14K GVWR dump trailer. He swears by it.

That's what is most intriguing to me is not tearing apart the interior! Thank you for the input. Looks like I'll be snagging one to give it a shot. Let me know if you test yours out soon.

Thanks again.

Just read up on it and watched a few videos on YouTube. You have to keep pressing the button on your phone to activate the brakes? That seems to be very distracting while driving.

Hey Ace,

The way I found it to be is autonomous once it is configured. Loss of bluetooth connection or closure of the app does not impair the braking function. There is an option to provide manual brake activation by pressing the button on the app for special circumstances but this is not required for general use.

Do you have the link of the video you watched? I'd like to watch it myself if possible.

Thanks!

I honestly just did a quick Google search about it and watched the first video I found for it on YouTube. I didn't watch it all the way when I saw the person pressing the button to apply the brakes lol.

I finally went to the curt website and read up about it more. Seems to be simple enough. My only worry would be is when I stop somewhere and walk away from the vehicle, it’s not going to be there when I get back lol!

That is a valid concern as there isn't a way to truly lock it in place. One more piece of "luggage" to carry into where ever I'm stopped at right? Lol We will see how it works out!

Personally the bigger concern is the fact that you need to use the app to manually apply the brake. If you get in a situation the requires that, you don't really have time to be messing with your phone. I know those situations don't happen often, but when they do, it can be disastrous.

Give me a hard wired controller with a button or lever to activate the brakes.

There is a secondary button that can be purchased separately and used as desired. I do see some areas that can be improved, however for the ease and customization, it's a novel idea. We will see how it works out at least in the short term, I can always go hardwired later.

Cool, I did not know that button existed. Now I have something else to spend $$ on!

for $300, I'd much rather have the hardwired TBC. The install is really not all that bad. If you have pulled interior panels before, it's a piece of cake. I left my headliner in, just undid the two clips at the rear. Took an hour?
