CURT 51189 Manual Override Bluetooth Button for Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller, Powered by Flic, White https://a.co/d/2vtXc6t
Still requires app to be up on phone and adds another Bluetooth connection to the mix. Probably also has a battery that needs to be charged or changed. One more point of failure to communicate when you need it most.

Give me a hardwired controller.

Ditto on "hardwired". I purchased and installed a REDARC Liberty ( I believe it was called) which was super easy to install and use. My 2019 Ranger Lariet had brake controller connection leads terminated under the dash so it was very easy to install. I also replaced one if the 12v cig lighter power ports to mount the control knob. Highly recommend this model.

Looking for a trailer brake controller for my '19 Ranger. Preferably NIB.
There is only one model that will work with ACC or automatic braking if you have that option and it is a model of the REDARC. The Prodigy brake controller is good but won't support those options. The Redarc that works with the ACC and automatic braking has a third wire that hooks to your third high mounted stop light.

I've been using the Curt Echo for a couple of years now on multiple trailers including my 7000 ish pound travel trailer. It works great. Really the only time you need to even get into the app is if you want to change the brake sensitivity profile for that particular trailer. You can set and save multiple profiles for multiple trailers. After you have your profile set, you don't even need to pair with it again for it to remember your last settings and use it.

As for the trailer only brake application button, in 40+ years of towing, the only time I ever engage the trailer brakes separately from truck brakes is when I do a trailer brake check after hitching up. So accessibility to physical controls, while unfamiliar at first, doesn't bother me at all anymore. Another plus is I can use it with other tow vehicles as well. Not just my Ranger. I bought mine at home depot.

yes, look at the install thread, look on youtube. There are two wires you'll need that are tucked away and terminated under your footwell. The instructions with the TBC specify the color/location. Very simple.

Well, perhaps I could, but I learned how to do it from YouTube. I recommend that you study the three or four videos at that source. They all give the same directions, with the benefit of each having different camera angles etc.

So I'm trying to make a sound decision on what size travel trailer, thinking best to keep it under 5k lbs unloaded, and loaded around 6.5k , want to tow safely and comfortably and be able to go up/down Colorado's mountain passes, so does yours tow well at the weight you mentioned ? I'm looking at models like an Imagine 22mle (~5200 lbs uvw or a rockwood mini 2109 ~ 4600 lbs) . 1st time RV buyer and don't want to make a poor decision with respect to towing weight. thanks

Here's the link to a post I made after a 6400 mile camping trip earlier this summer through the Rockies. It details my thoughts on the capability of the Ranger.
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/6464-miles-towing-7200lb-tt.25658/#post-588143

Towing capability of a vehicle is as much about the experience of the driver as the tow vehicle. Bigger tow vehicles can compensate for more user error. If you being a "first time RV Buyer" means you don't have much experience towing anything, the smaller the trailer the better for your situation for now. If you have alot of experience towing other things than RVs, you are probably good with what will work within the Towing limits, payload, and GVWR of the truck.

My recommendation is to hold off 1 year buying a trailer and rent different sized ones and models . Its a great way to see what works best for your family/situation and also to test your comfort limits for towing size. Not as much fun as rushing into buying something, but more practical. I'd say most "first time rv buyer"s lose a fair amount of money trading RVs within a couple years for a different size / model, or discover they are paying alot for something they rarely use. Renting helps sort that out. Food for thought.

appreciate the advice, I've towed a boat in the past and a loaded 4k lbs uhaul trailer with the Ranger and have driven my friends F-250 with the 6.7 diesel towing a huge travel trailer. Gathering info from multiple sources to make an informed and hopefully good decision, settling in on something no more than 24' long and < 5k unloaded, I read your trip review and been on some RV sites and all the info is helping. Read about folks buying and not using the rig much, or not a good match for the tow vehicle or even not liking the way certain trailers towed compared to others. thanks

Thanks for the confirmation! It reads like you just put it and to pair that with personal experience is great! I've ordered the controller but left off the button for now.

You will run into payload and likely wind issues before you run into tow limit. I’d probably look lower. I’ve got a Springdale 1750RD that is like a giant sail in high winds, even if it is thousands under the tow limit. I am comfortable with it, but can see how you could easily overdo it and be within towing limits.
