I backed into a telephone pole guide wire, so I needed to have a body shop fix the mess I made.

When I disconnected the wiring to the lock and camera in the tailgate, I remembered that the truck came with a plug to insert at the end of the harness when the tailgate is removed.

The problem is that it doesn't match the actual plug on the tailgate at all. The plug coming out of the tailgate is 8pin while the "protective cap" is 12pin.

Did I just get the wrong one or is this more widespread? How I'll be rolling for the next couple of days.

Looks like they gave you the wrong plug. Here's mine from my Tremor and it's an 8 pin. The last letter on yours is AA where mine is AB.

Thanks for the part number! Should be easy to get it replaced at the dealer.

Instead of the plug, I cut a finger off of a nitrile glove, pulled it over the end, and taped it in place.
Anytime! Hope you get it fixed quickly.

Smart thinking with the glove. I would've left the whole glove on there with all the fingers taped back around the harness except the middle one. lol ?

Good as new. Dropped off the tailgate Monday and picked it up today.

The infotainment is a little dumb without the back up camera. When you put it in reverse, the screen is black, and it shows the the backup sensor readings UNTIL it decides that it needs to pop up a box telling you the camera isn't available. That's not a problem, but hitting the "ok" button turns off the view of the backup sensors, which is still useful. To get them back, you need to shift out of a back into reverse. I think there should be an option to turn off the back up camera in the settings, so it doesn't;t bug you with a pop-up everything you put it in reverse. At any rate, I'm glad to have the camera back.

I was wondering what that was for. Thought a factory worker got lazy when he/she realized they didn't need it and rather than walking to where ever to put it back on the shelf, threw it in my glove box ?

Haha, I thought something like that too.
I was thinking that I HAVE a tail gate. What do I need this for? Now I know.
