I haven't seen anything today but as of late yesterday they're saying it could be tracking a little more south now. It does look like all of FL will be effected in some way with this huge storm. It's supposed to weaken by the time it hit land but the storm surge is going to be pretty bad. Prayers to everyone in the area because this looks like it could be another bad one. ?
Looking better, I’m in north central florida

Hopefully it doesn’t come your way ..Hope your sister will be O K !
yeah this one won't affect the carolinas really. though I'm concerned about what it means for my sister's family. they are extremely tight financially and this is going to hurt them if they lose anything whatsoever.

it won't be a picnic for my parents, either. they're close enough to it that they're going to feel some pain, too. certainly power outages. they have a lot of trees around their house so they'll be chainsawing, too, I bet. I suspect my sister and her family will be living there for longer than a few days...

my area got hammered by Helene. My house was fine, but lots of places still have no power, no water, and no cellular service. I wouldn't have cell service at my house if it wasn't for wifi calling.

#2 is headed straight for my sister (just north of Tampa), so she bugged out today for our parents' house just far enough north that there are no evacuations there.
My daughter is in Maggie Valley, NC. She is still shell shocked from the disaster. Was in tears a little bit yesterday. She has grown to hate FEMA. Says they get in the way of getting things done, and don't seem to care.

But the private outpouring from around the country is a blessing and is making a BIG difference. Even in clearing the roads. She said the $750 being given out is a loan, and if not repaid, the government will seize your private property. She called it a land grab! Locals are refusing the $$.

Can anyone confirm this?

It is going to take years to rebuild the infrastructure lost.

Milton looks to be dangerous and I have lots of good friends and family all over Florida. Be safe folks.

My cousin lives in cape coral. Backs up to a canal. Water from Helene got about 3ft from getting into the pool. They bugged out a few days ago for this one.

Lots of BS going around about FEMA. Just about all of it is wrong. They have crews of specialists doing specific jobs and they're overseeing efforts in a big picture manner and getting money spread around. There are also LOTS of contractors doing the big jobs with heavy equipment and LOTS of volunteers getting food and supplies to people.

We're getting to the point where people are getting in the way of those specialists and contractors doing their jobs. In some areas, the air traffic is so congested (especially with some of these volunteer pilots just flying in on their own) that there have been a LOT of very close calls between those aircraft. The last thing we need is an air-air collision in the middle of an inaccessible disaster zone. Chimney Rock, SPECIFICALLY is keeping pretty much all volunteers out. Because even the main roads into town are gone. ALL traffic funnels through those roads, so they have to get them repaired before they can get volunteer crews in. In Asheville where I am, traffic is actually worse in spots than "usual". Some of that is due to some major roads still being closed, but people are driving by so they can slow down and look at the damage. One interstate bridge in particular, local police have had to set up barricades to keep people from parking along the interstate and bridge, getting out of their cars, and standing on the bridge to look down. Even now, the rubberneckers are making a mess of things.

None of this is a land grab. That's one of the more insidious lies being spread. Lots of fundraisers are popping up to support people whose employers cannot operate and are not large enough to continue paying them anyway. The small business administration has money to help people in that situation. Rebuilding homes and businesses absolutely will happen, and people are currently planning how that is going to look. Habitat for Humanity is gearing up to be heavily involved in not just rebuilding entire homes, but repairing damaged ones, as well. And the local Habitat's offices were all flooded out, too. The only land grab was from the rivers swallowing it and washing it away. I don't think anyone knows what it's going to look like for people affected by that particular problem. As in all major disasters, some people will choose not to rebuild. Maybe they didn't have flood insurance or coverage for landslides and they can't afford to rebuild.

I have several coworkers who have received FEMA checks already. They are NOT loans. I looked into the FEMA money, but I do not qualify. I'm very fortunate that my employer is still paying me my regular paychecks and my wife is getting hers, also (she is salaried). My employer is even giving affected employees $1,000 grants.

No, near Athens GA. That area in NC/TN I've been to many times just driving around. Beautiful area of the county and sad that it has been devastated like this.

The links below still work - simply click on them to see the video,

I am happy that your coworkers have been given assistance. Is this $750 / person or family?

Please speak to these incidents... This first one I can excuse as accidental. The last few not so much. There are widespread reports of FEMA confiscating private supplies and donations from many aid groups. Esp in the first few days.

Quite frankly I am tired of the Fed Government and MSM constantly talking of Conspiracy Theories when they mishandle or abuse / take advantage of situations.

Let us talk of about a few specific instances.

A National Guard Chinook helicopter's low landing at a relief camp in Western North Carolina resulted in over $100,000 in damage, ripping apart tents, supplies, and vehicles, and sending three people to the hospital.

When confronted, the officer in charge gave a casual "oops" and no details, leaving only the helicopter's tail number.

Later, a public affairs officer stepped in to apologize and offer information for filing a complaint.

This incident can be chalked up to a poor decision / or accident.

This one my daughter is very much aware of and needs to be fully investigated.
My daughter is an honorable woman and is not prone to exaggeration.

Here is the short of it. The link above has more details and more tiktok links with videos.
FEMA showed up at the United Cajun Navy’s authorized relief location and demanded that they turn over all their aid to FEMA. They declined to do so. The FEMA reps left, Hours later 2 black SUVs with blue lights flashing drove slowly around their staging area and left. They did not stop or speak with anyone. The glass in the SUV was dark so no one could see inside the vehicles. A short time later a Black helicopter piloted by two black masked men flew in very low. dtopped and hovered over their prepared aid, allowing the prop wash to destroy their aid. Blew it all over the staging area /runway. There was no call numbers on the helicopter. Private Businesses / Pilots can't fly an aircraft without FAA registration call numbers. She thinks it was US Government destroying the aid. BTW, The UCN has coordinated flights running around the clock with the rest of those flying aid and operating in controlled airspace. Those smaller helicopters can go and land in places the US Military can't. These pilots are seasoned professionals.

Reports are coming in that this may have been a FEMA helicopter intentionally flying low over a volunteer supply drop zone in North Carolina because the volunteers refused to let FEMA confiscate their supplies.

UCN is registered with FEMA and authorized to do this work.

SpaceX engineers are trying to deliver Starlink terminals & supplies to devastated areas in North Carolina right now and @FEMA is both failing to help AND won’t let others help. This is unconscionable!!

They just took this video a few hours ago, where you can see the level of devastation: roads, houses, electricity, water supply and ground Internet connections completely destroyed.

@FEMA
wouldn’t let them land to deliver critical supplies … my blood is boiling …

Truckers carrying private emergency supplies to Western NC stopped at these 3 Truck stops to gas up. Came out to find their tires slashed, not just one, ALL of them.

As I understand, the FEMA aid is limited to 1 application per address. but the $750 payment is just the first one being handed out right now. More will come as they look at the needs described in the applications.

As for the incidents - Anyone using the acronym "MSM" already gets a healthy dose of skepticism from me. There are bits of truth spread throughout, but the real question is whether the assessments of those situations is correct. And the answer to those is going to be almost invariably no. The media sources you site all have VERY STRONG agendas. And citing the social media platform formerly known as Twitter doesn't really give me any kind of confidence. Especially when it comes straight from Elon Musk. That guy is a certified whacko and an ass.
