Only if I could go back to the 70's and be 14 again. No way I'd wanna be 14 in this day and age.
I was 14 when President Kennedy was assassinated. I was in 4th hr band and they closed school for the day. Some of the teachers were weeping, and I thought, "What's the big deal? LBJ will just take over." I bummed a cigarette and walked home rather than waiting for the school bus. Even the Top 40 stations preempted programming for continuous coverage.

It was a very bizarre time in history. I remember watching the live programming when they were bringing Lee Harvey Oswald to arraignment(?) and Jack Ruby shot him right there in the police station. Everybody saw everything and to this day known knows for sure what happened.

That was the only day that I can remember my parents picking me up from school. We lived about a mile away and that was definitely within walking distance. The teacher told us there had been a national tragedy and we were getting out early. When I exited, my parents were waiting for me at the door, that told the 12 year old me that this was a serious event. We spent the next week or so glued to the TV. Plenty of tears flowed. Like the shuttle explosion and the 911 attack that event is branded in my memory, never to be forgotten. Many years later I visited the memorial at the book depository in Dallas. What an emotional event, looking out the window towards the grassy knoll. Just remembering that puts a lump in my throat.

Sorry for the off topic post. Way off topic in the jokes thread.

So after that little downer post, how about some thing a little bit lighter. This one always makes me laugh out loud.
