I don't know how long ago it was but sorry to learn of the passing of your daughter, must have been rough. My wife passed about 6 and a half years ago, time does help.

I don't know about "people" and why "they" do or don't do things.
We moved from VA to AZ because our daughter wanted to go to ASU and as she was handicapped to the point she couldn't live alone we moved here for her. We liked it here so well (no severe cold or shoveling snow/ice) that when she passed away we decided to stay.

She was diagnosed early in life with multiple disease processes that would be fatal. Her mom was told she would not live to see middle school. I met them when she had just turned 7yrs old...such a tiny little firecracker! I was immediately wrapped around her little finger
She graduated high school with honors. We told her during middle school if she wanted to go to college we would take her wherever she wanted to go, but required her to do her research to find a decent ADA compliant college...she did and chose ASU to study psychology. We sold everything we had but the car her mom had (Ford Escape), and our clothes and kitchen stuff. Loaded all that in a UHaul, hooked it to the escape, backed it up on my stepdeck trailer and we three came across from VA to AZ in my tractor trailer in June of '08. Ashley started college in August '08 and was in the top 25% of her class when her body finally gave out in Dec '10. She had had to withdraw from school in either Sept or Oct...I can't remember... because she was in ICU more than she was home and it had become impossible for her to concentrate and keep up with lessons from there.

And that's how we got here. Every bit worth it. Every single bit.

I know we've touched on this before but I never knew the whole story. Sorry for your loss and you were a great father to her and should be proud! She's now in a better place and I'm sure looking down on both of you watching over you and the Mrs waiting until you're all together again one day. God Bless!
