Oh wow! I can see the world much better now. Thanks for this. ?

Now I need to prevent myself from falling asleep.
Wonder if it works when looking at the wife? ?

So..... who's paid attention to that famous car chase seen? Have another look. There's a car that instantly repairs itself. And they pass up the same VW beetle multiple times.

?

And the dodge lost several hup caps, but still had them on in subsequent shots.

But it is still one of the best car chase movie scenes of all time. And Steve McQueen is just cool.

I read somewhere back then that the end broadside at about the 10:04 mark was miscalculated. The original screenplay called for Steve to stop before the camera ditch. But apparently he was going faster than planned and nearly hit the camera and crew. They thought was a better scene so they kept it in the final cut! There was more than one Mustang used in the filming. There were at least two specially fitted with bash bars, and other reinforcements for the street chase; same for the Charger, and yes, the VW and Pontiac Tempest are used in multiple scenes. Steve's personal one recently sold at Mecum for $3.4M, the highest auction price paid for a Mustang ever.

I've never been able to find out why The King of Cool double-clutched all of his upshifts!?!

Probably only because it makes for better theater?

Where’s my Ranger ?

Safe bet that at least one person in lanes 1,2 & 3 had an invalid, missing ticket or debit/credit card. Before license plate tolling, it was major aggravation to be stuck behind someone in the EZ PASS (or other) ONLY LANE in my semi while a booth operator came over to take the duffus's' money and trigger the gate.

Agree. Propably just a little artistic license on the part of the producers, thinking it sounded better. They were probably not car crazy. ;)
