Had one of those as a kid, it even had a remote. The old man would bark orders for what channel he wanted and it was my job to get up and switch it. ?

You left out the 8-Track ?

Or does this predate the 8-Track?
Yup, by probably ~ten years. That's a first generation color tv. They were flat top and bottom like that. I remember when one of the neighborhood rich kid's parents bought a "Color TV HiFi Stereo Console" like that. Most shows were still black & white, but Disneyland and Bonanza were in color after awhile. The turntable probably has a 16rpm setting- I have never seen a 16 rpm record, but for a time most turntables had it.

That was the high end deluxe model. Ours was much more basic TV. And they must have had an outside antenna because there are no Rabbit ears on top. The hardest part of being the human remote was adjusting the position of the Rabbit ears. You would get it just perfect, then when you walked away the picture would change. Plus you had to choose between UHF and VHF before doing the final channel selection.
