decided id keep at trying until the appt next thursday. unhooked the battery over night. hooked it up and thought just maybe the bcm would reset or something. nope. still have the same issue with the addition of no one touch auto down window functions.:frown:light all work fine in day mode. as soon as the auto lights flip on for dark or you turn the knob to anything other than off or auto in the daylight the rear lights just do whatever they please. odd flickers, no brake lights or brake lights on like im constantly on the brakes. poop. i bet its parts i cant get to do myself. i hate being at the mercy of dealer service. since things except window all work in day mode i found some trails and wheeled to the river. got more pin stripe than i was in for. spent the evening polishing the remains out. got the jello arms . so i give up on it for the night.

There is a thread of resetting the auto up down on driver window on here.

As suggested, have you disconnected what you did before the lites grew a mind of their own yet?

i have not tried disconnecting all of it but i can fairly easy. all my power and grounds are at the battery on a fused distribution block. The block has hot and ground for each item, fuse for each item and power and ground for the block of course. The only exception is the acc wire for the relay box that is taking one of the empty spots in the cab fuse box. # 35 i think is the spot i used. That way it would not be hot with the truck off. wanted to prevent me from forgetting something and killing the battery. I may be missing something, if you have a good idea educate me please. I wanna solve this stuff without the dealer.

There is a connector C1147 under the dash near the left kick panel that has wires supplying the left rear brake light and left rear turn signal. I think that this connector is the big one that plugs into the BCM. It has green-blue, grey- orange, and violet-brown wires that go to the left tail light. Perhaps it came loose when you were working under the dash.

Undo what you did. Without being there and seeing for myself that’s the best advice I can give . Also as previously stated check for loose connections etc.

so i unhooked the power and ground for the entire setup and pulled the fuse tap from the cab fuse panel. no difference . But it was worth a shot. thanks for the suggestion!

The left light is where it started acting goofy so thats a good idea. I will crawl in and see if anything is loose. I wish the connections were bigger and easier to get to and I was smaller and easier to get in tight places lol.

I'm curious. Does the center cab mount brake light work? Some have used that for a trailer brake light. The 2019 Ranger had a recall for a connector under the driver floor for bad connections on the brake light also.

Yes the third brake light seems to be the only one on the rear that works as it should. the tail, brake and turn signals are randomly doing what they like. it started with the left turn signal doing the fast click - bulb out sound. all the lights work - just erratic,

OK, I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Electrical issues can be difficult to track down, but it sounds like a ground issue with that left side wiring.

strange thing - took the truck on about 300 mile trip today. about 60 mile part was off road romping. i headed home early knowing my brake lights would not work or go into glitch mode as soon as the sun set. I get stuck at a wreck and sit till well after dark and the tail, brake, and turn lights all worked perfectly. nothing was done or changed. have not been to dealer yet. Apparently bouncing around in the river clay and over rocks did something to make a better connection ??

Hi Mark,

A bit of a back story. We were in Rio de Janeiro to run an Indy car race of which I was a trackside official. We were staying at Hotel Alantical, suppositorily a 5 star hotel on Copacabana beach.
Our rooms were on various floors toward the top of the Hotel. Here we are...crowded into the elevator area, tired and need of a beer... The elevator arrived to take us up to our rooms, but the doors closed and no movement...initial puzzlement turned into mild panic but there was a "repairman" that opened the door and we exited the elevator. He removed the large floor selector panel and probed the wiring...there was a blue arch and the lights on the panel came on... He said "fixed!"...we elected to climb the stairs after that.

I fear your electrical problem needs further diagnosis... Likely a ground issue, JMO....

Best,
Phil
