You can manually shift gears in “Sport” mode. You have to move the shifter into “S”, then you use + or - on the shifter to change gears.

Yeah, my last truck had the front bench so during date night it was easy to cruise with the armrest up and I'm sure you know the rest. The shifter kind of gets in the way.
