IIRC they're only made for the 12 gauge Shockwave. I haven't bought any shells in a while though so maybe they make them now for the 20?
Yes, Aguila Ammunition manufactures 20 gauge mini shells. These \(1\frac{3}{4}\)-inch shells are designed for lower recoil and increased capacity in 20 gauge platforms. They are available in various configurations, including #4 and #1 buckshot, providing a low-recoil option for home defense or target shooting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

I can't comprehend how you'd get them to feed properly...does it matter that they're so short?

Awesome, thanks Doc! I haven't looked into the minis in 2-3 years and it looks like from your link there's several stores close by that carry them. I'll be getting a few soon!

There's a plug you add to the bottom on the Shockwave so they function properly. Also you're loading 9 of them so it takes up the same space (with the plug) as loading 4 of the normal ones.

I keep this...Remington 870, 20 gauge with extension/6 rounds, in the house and take it when we are out with the travel trailer.
Mini's sound nice, especially with thin trailer walls and in house use.
But, does anyone have experience as to whether or not they will feed reliably in the 870 ???

Shotgun mini shells do not feed reliably enough to rely upon from virtually any platform, unfortunately. In a pump, they are a really fun novelty, a lot like the dragon’s breath shells that throw sparks.

If they were reliable, we would use them in competition, especially in IPSC I was limited by length (1320mm) and not capacity for my Benelli, it would have been able to fit substantially more than the 12+1 capacity I competed with in Thailand.

They tend to perform better.

Check hull rigidity if you want them to cycle well, especially in semi-autos. Traditionally, Winchester AA's were the stiffest hulls for birdshot. The most consistent buckshot comes via flight control wads used by Federal and Hornady, with Winchester Ranger (LE sales only) low recoil being the best patterning buck that does not have a flight control wad.

I have finished my latest project!

Just a recap; this was an ATI MB3-R (Chinese knock-off of the Remington 870) that I got for somewhere under $50. I swapped a bunch of Remington 870 parts to it, including a stock set I had laying around from a previous 870 project. I then used the Silencer Shop $50 Form 1 service, and after 60 days, the ATF approved it to be SBS'ed. Shortening was preformed with a hacksaw, and cleaned up with files. The front sight was easy to install using a 3mm drill and tap set. This was a very fun project that I was able to do on the cheap!

The 870 is a great shotgun. I've got one 870, my grandfather's Stevens (Sears) double barrel 12 Gauge, and a near perfect 1950's Sears JC Higgins 12 gauge pump.

I must say that I prefer the pump action of the old Sears 12 gauge over both Mossberg and Remington 12 gauge. Surprising to say it, but it is buttery smooth.

I have started to amass a small but growing shotgun collection.
-Savage Fox Model B 12 ga. SxS (was my dad's when he was a kid)
-Remngton 870 Police Magnum 12 ga (this is a fully gone through and customized old service shotgun from back in my po-po days)
-3 Mossberg 500 12 ga. Pumps (all project guns. The 3rd one is an in-progress pistol grip blingy gun.)
-Winchester 1400 Mk II semi-auto 12 ga. (This was an rough project gun that I am very proud of having basically built it.)
-ATI MB3-R SBS 12 ga (the one posted just above)
