it's the big spoon!

I've also come up with a plan on how to deal with the pistol brace issue. I own a registered SBR, so I will use my short 9mm upper on that, and buy a full 16" upper for my 9mm blaster, and take the brace off and replace it with a regular stock, thus making it a 16" rifle.
Phoenix Trinity just dropped a grip specifically for those and Staccatos so you can have a metal grip instead of plastic. Definitely a nice upgrade and should be available from Rainier Arms soon.

An Interesting Balloon Update ( Which is straining credibility )

The NORAD General staff say they have "holes in the net" when it comes to Chinese balloons and that several passed over the US when Trump was President. And in a MAJOR Breach of command authority, the General Staff failed to inform the President, the Commander in Chief of the military!

Now that is a mouthful! (Makes you wander just who is running the US Government)
This is the article that I am quoting.
NORAD Pleads Incompetence Over Failure To Spot Trump-Era Chinese Spy Balloons

Here is why it strains credibility

Below is the flight path of the Chinese Balloon over the USA. Take note where the balloon's flight path is in relation to the Alaskan Aleutian Islands.

b1.jpg

Note that the Aleutians run from southern Alaska southeast to well below Siberia, and it is all US territory. Since the start of WWII, the US military has had a significant presence at Shemya, Alaska. Shemya is waaaay out on the very end of the Aleutians. Note its location in relation to both China and Russia in the map below. It is situated perfectly to detect anything coming from the far east. There is also a nice long runway that supports tactical and strategic USAF aircraft. The entire island is a US military base.
b3.jpg

The US built a very advanced AESA phased array radar facing west. Phased Array radar systems have the ability to see "over the horizon" and have extremely advanced tracking capabilities. They are almost impossible to jam as they use dynamically changing "scanning" frequencies. They can track with great precision everything (hundreds if not thousands of targets simultaneously) coming its way as the beam is aimed by computers in nano-seconds.

Below is a picture of the radar location on Shemya. Looks small, but it isn't. Notice that 10,000' runway on the southern half of the island. It can support all USAF tactical fighters and most bombers and heavy transports.
b4.jpg

This is a view of the Phased Array Radar from the ground in Shemya. Impressive. There is no way that the Chinese Balloon evaded detection of this radar. The balloon literally drifted near or over this installation.

The US government, for whatever reason(s) known only to them, is openly lying to the American public.

My last word on the topic.

its insulting. the lies they feed us lol. I know nothing of detection / radar stations etc. but i know for sure that alaska is dotted with us military. Coast Guard, Navy, Airforce not to mention the canucks right next door and the govt civilians like NOAA, USGS and more. so even if the radar hole in the net thing was true that would mean all of the military in the area and uniform affiliated that are patrolling and on watch on a regular basis did not see anything either... despite all those eyes and ears and the detection systems at hand for them. i can track objects that are identified in orbit of the planet in space from any place with a smart phone and internet connection. I have the most basic computer skills and no fancy equipment. so the us govt. with basically unlimited tax payer money to spend on whatever they want cant spot something floating slowly along over its own lands the size of 4 city busses.
amazing. things are so crazy.

As much as I like the 1911 design, the low mag count is one of the things that has kept me away from purchasing one. But 17-20 rounds gets me squarely into intrigued category. I think I'm going to take a trip to my local gun shop to look it over.

2011 "race guns" are becoming VERY popular nowadays. Lots of options to choose from and that Stacatto is top of many lists.

The new Dan Wesson CZ 2011 type offerings are super hot.

THE double stack.

Staccato.
Sadly, mine is not a Stacatto - I went with the Springfield DS Prodigy with the 4.25" barrel. I lust for a Stacatto! The lock-up and fit and finish on those guns are so tight! But, I have to say, I am impressed with the Prodigy after handling both the Stacatto and Prodigy back to back. And the Prodigy is a decent, amount less in $$$ than the Stacatto - thus allowing me to maintain my marriage. Actually, I got a hell of a deal on the Prodigy through work, so it was an even more of a better deal!

Mmmmmmmmm! Double stack 9mm! I may have to be stupid and get myself one of the 26-round magazines that are optional on these! LOL

Dooh!

My mistake. The Prodigy is a beautiful machine as well.

When I bought my P226 I considered diving into the 2011 pool for a bit. Ultimately the fact that my state has a "standard capacity magazine" ban kept me from doing it. The Prodigy was top of my list when I was thinking about it.

It's not too bad. We can still do 15, at least it's not 10 like California.

I will forever support MagPul for pulling out of the state in reaction. And smartly I bought a ton of PMags before the ban took effect

Luckily our state grandfathered in existing mags, so any mag that was available before 2013 "could be" legal. And luckily it's only pursued by law enforcement when other major crimes are involved

My LGS sells a lot online. They include factory mags, regardless of size. But stocking up on extras can prove difficult. Standard capacity mags can be found stand alone as well but it's hit or miss.

It becomes an issue with some firearms though. I love my 5.7 mm Rugers. But I'd love them more if I could stock up more mags easily. A lesson I took when deciding on a new handgun.

I think my next pickup in that grey area might be a pair of Kel-Tecs. For some reason I really dig the CMR30 and PMR30. While the CMR was released after our ban the PMR was pre ban and they use the same magazines.

RETIRED!!!!
I have a Kel-Tec P11 pistol I bought probably 20 years ago. Never any issues with it and had been 100% reliable. Only issue is the trigger. It is heavy and a very long pull. But for EDC and close in self defense, it is a good pistol.

I love 1911s. I find them very easy to shoot. Lately I’ve been trying to get used to the SIG combat sighting system where the front sight covers the target. I’m not sure if all their handguns use it but the M17 does. I understand it’s for quick point and shoot situations but definitely takes getting used to. It’s also hard to hop from a SIG with combat sight picture to a center hold with other handguns.

I watched a video where an FFL fellow stated that there are ~40 million weapons affected by this ruling. ATF gives a deadline to register by. ATF has 81 day grace window once application is sent in. If they do not approve application in 81 days then you are SOL and in violation! So by attempting to register your once legal weapon, the ATF will have all the info they need to come knocking at your door to retrieve the weapon, fine or send you off to the pokey. And sense you are now charged as a felon, confiscate any other arms found.

The fellow thinks it is nothing more than a "honey pot" pretext for a gun grab.

I am only reporting what this fellow had to say. I don't have a dog in this fight as I don't own one.

I've standardized my weapons of choice, and it didn't make the list. (sigh) 22, 380, 40, 556, 12 & 16 gauge. Looking back 9mm might have been a better choice than 40, but that ship has sailed. And I prefer 16g over 12g as I get older. It is hell on an old man's shoulder, even with a stock pad!

I do know that he is correct on this one count. There is no way the ATF can process 40+ million applications within the grace period, and mostly likely not single applications in 81 days if they are swamped. Do the math.

Opinions?

- T
They do this every few years. I don’t know too much about this latest one as it really doesn’t apply to what I have but they’ll pass something unconstitutional and while it takes forever to get up to the Supreme Court to get a ruling on, they carry out these restrictions. It’s just a game to slowly take away guns, one at a time and a way to screw with gun owners. I mean they went as far as to ban ARs when Clinton was in office. Completely unconstitutional and yet we saw how long that stuck. I’d personally not try to walk the line with this one and finding ways around it, as they’re always out looking to make statements. It just takes a cop or District Attorney on the wrong side of things and now you’re in a world of hurt. I’ve warned many about “catch cans” and the consequences they’ll face if the wrong people know they have them.
