I went the easy cheap way. A small battery operated motion LED detector light. Attached with the stronger EZ pass toll type 3M hook and loop tape. Pull on and off easy to change two AAA batteries when necessary. Light usually comes on when I open the glove box. Once I had to put my hand in and the light came on in a split second. Shuts off in about 15 seconds with no motion detected. Actually works very good.
Just installed it today along with the license plate bulbs swap to LED.

This is an excellent idea. Kudos to your brainstorming. Rather than a 1/2 day hardwire solution, Your idea costs under 5 bucks, is LED and takes 3 minutes to install. Brilliant!

I found a better spot for the LED motion detector LED n the glove compartment.
Right over head.

I tried looking for it when you posted about liking it but I don't see it anymore.
Amazon has some battery powered motion detector LEDs. Many seem too big, though.
