Hey guys,
I need some pointers as I heard some squeaking from my front coilover, after installing them 4 months ago. Took a look and noticed the upper bushing had split and had started coming off the top.
I had a hell of a time installing the coilovers in the first place and would prefer to change out the bushing without removing the coilover. Is this possible? Can I change it out with the truck's weight compressing the spring? Excuse my ignorance and I appreciate any tips. Pics below of the bushing and what I believe is the correct replacement parts. Thanks again!

You're gonna have to pull the coilover, compress the spring, and replace the bushing.

A better idea would be to pull it and ship to Fox. You could pick up a cheap spacer level to install on your factory setup to tide you over.

I appreciate it. I was thinking it was probably the safest move. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks again!

Kind of suprising to see this on a shock/strut that is only a few months old. What did fox end up doing?
Kind of surprising to see this on a product from a company with such a good reputation for quality. I sure hope it gets resolved soon.

Hey yeah I agree. I've never dealt with suspension on any vehicle I've owned so it's new territory for me. I ended up looking up the bushing and it's sold out everywhere. It's a very specific part as it's part of a pre-fabbed setup sold by ford.

The Fox rep I spoke with needed me to look at the part number on the shock to identify what part I needed. I was surprised they didn't know. I ended up asking them for help after trying to find it online. It was sold out wherever I looked.

They ended up having me start a service request on their website. They then charged me $20 and I received the new set of replacement bushings/washers/nuts etc a couple days later.

Still on my own when it comes to having someone make the repair though. A pain in the ass after paying $500 per coilover. Kinda disappointed.

To think they would charge you like that when you are supposed to have a 1 year warranty. To say the least I would not be too happy and file a complaint to them for that.

As for the labor to get it fixed yeah that can be a pain. I had to do similar with Old Man EMU but other then that it wasnt much of an issue

Just to clarify Fox does make a good product for OffRoad but they do have thier drawbacks. For starters they do state for thier shocks running 50/50 on and OffRoad to rebuild the shocks every 10,000 miles. Also only haveing a year warranty can be a pain especially when compared to other branfs on the market. Now what I do believe happened in this particular scenario is the part that failed happened to be part of a bad batch. That is something that will happen on any mass produced item.

Did you offer to send the assemblies in for warranty work?

That would've been my response if they offered to charge me $20 to get a part that I then needed to replace.

Just a quick update... I received the replacement bushings washers and nuts from Fox. It was a lot easier than anticipated. I'm assuming since it's so new. I was able to remove the locknut that was securing what was left of the upper bushing by using an Allen ratchet to secure the shock piston while I loosened the locknut with a wrench.

No issue at all. The nut came right off along with the old bushing and washer. The new ones went right on and I tightened the nut, counting the threads to make sure it went on the same as before. Job done in about 15 minutes. The coil didn't fly out as the weight of the truck was securely holding things together. I was shocked at how easy it was.

No more squeeky suspension from a new truck... Just the way it should be. Cheers everyone!
