I'm active law enforcement, and currently in the crime prevention unit. I can tell you for a fact, your area is not the only area seeing an increase in vehicle theft. It's happening everywhere. In fact, crime in general is on the rise. Best advise is keep vehicle in a garage. Make sure driveways are well lit (install motion lights also), and have cameras. If parking in the garage and you are paranoid about thieves opening up the door via remote, install a remote power switch to the garage door opener, when you go to sleep kill power to the garage door opener. If you can't park inside garage, consider installing a remote kill switch hidden somewhere. Lastly, if in a long driveway, consider having a family member block your truck in at night. The more steps they have to go through, the less likely they'll try to steal it.
P.S. Don't leave garage door openers in your vehicle! They have been stealing these also and coming back on a later date.
