Looks like Ford has finally got serious about fixing their digital platform with these hirings. Maybe now The updates won't be so "glitchy" and the Ford app will actually for as designed. After reading about all the trouble most have with updates I've never done any updates to mine. I've been lucky as my app has never given me any issues.

Ford Motor has hired Mike Amend as its chief digital and information officer as the automaker seeks to expand into software, subscriptions and in-vehicle connectivity. Amend, who was president of Lowe’s Online for three years, will focus on Ford’s “use of data, software and technology”

Amend isn’t Ford’s only recent hire of note. The automaker also recently poached Doug Field — the tech executive who was leading Apple’s special projects team, and who also led the development of the Model 3 at Tesla — as chief advanced technology and embedded systems officer. The two will work closely, along with chief of product Hau Thai-Tang, Ford said.

This dude's job is to monetize every part of the software and the data they collect on you and your vehicle. You might get some neat features, but don't be surprised if it's a subscription or fee-based setup in the future.

While I'm sure some will require a subscription I highly doubt everything will. Unless all the other manufacturers go this route Ford would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.

No matter what you do today your data is being tracked. You might want to throw out your cell and computer right now if you're worried about that and don't leave the house because cameras are everywhere now. Unless you're living totally off grid in a cabin in the middle of nowhere you're never going to get away from leaving a digital footprint.

Ford is in business to make money and they need to recover the investment costs somehow. That means advertising revenue, subscription fees or increased sales. I like my Ford stock and want the company to make a ton of money! :like:
