My buddy had a plastic bed extender, that split in the middle and opened up the full bed when needed. It was pretty good.

Works as in is, not broken yes. Everything opens, closes and locks properly, but the pivot is ?120 degrees and not the 180 degrees that really makes these boxes nice.
