So my 2021 XLT flip key was starting to not open without using 2 hands. I lubed it but it still didn’t flip. When I looked really close, with the key partially open you can see a very small roll pin that holds the shank of the actual key into the case. Mine had worked out just enough to restrict smooth opening. I pushed it back level and now it flips!

Hmmm... I mentioned mine did that at my first service and the dealership replaced mine.

It happens to mine every so often. The first time it happened I thought some dust or debris had made it into the housing, I wear mine on a carabiner hanging from my belt loop, but after some time I noticed the pin on the hinge wasn’t flush and pressed it back in. Works like new.

Put a drop of superglue on the pin to prevent it from happening again. Shouldn't have to say but will, wait until the glue dries before fully opening or closing the key.
