Touchy question, are going for pure aesthetics or true off road function? Folks traveled wild Africa 60 yrs ago on skinny 32s. I know you already invested in the big tires but that begins a chain reaction of mods and stress on nearly everything. I think you’ll need snippers and sawzalls and lots of $. There might be build threads on this size tire, here or elsewhere.
I agree with you on this one. I do think most truck mods are for aesthetics to their owners, and I'm not about to judge how one person chooses to mod. Its their money eh?

That being said, I am 100% in your boat. The mods I've done to my truck have been in the name of slightly increased capability (1" front lift, AT tires, various pieces of protection) while trying to maintain maximum fuel economy - not only for the environment, but for my wallet. I drive 25k miles/year to do the things I love doing in the outdoors. 19mpg vs 23mpg makes a world of difference over that time span. Its the difference of roughly 230 gallons per year, and nearly $1k.

No look will ever be worth 5-10k to me over the life of my truck.

But yeah, its a touchy subject ;)

Wait, what? If the Fabtech beam kit you mentioned is already installed, your factory beams would have been cut to do so (Fabtechs install differently than others - over top of cut OEM beams) and all you’d really have to do is remove your Fabtech beams.

What’s this about rock sliders serving the same purpose? I’m not sure I understand the reasoning behind that.

@Rhino - agreed if he increases his offset too much, he risks coming up against the knuckle or other goodies. Anyone with zero offset likely wanted some poke - my comment was really just a way of saying the OP could spend another hard-earned paycheque on wheels and lose the look they were after all along or they could just take out the bars.
Agreed but you can make 0 offset work easily that’s what I run currently and I’m not running that large of a tire but just looking at my own truck I can figure out how to make it work but don’t need a 34 again lol

Ok, thanks for the help I'll get to cutting! I asked my local shop if rock sliders would serve the same purpose he said they would. If anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace.
Wait what? Sliders don’t have anything to do with the crash bars….
This was confusing me too.

My only guess is the purpose he's talking about is stopping a wheel/tire from protruding into the passenger compartment area in a crash.

I could see how a good set of sliders MIGHT provide a bit of protection in that regard.

Matter of fact I'm gonna keep that one in my back pocket in case I ever need to justify some sliders to her.
Good idea lmao but I’m single so I just buy things lol

You should try 12mpg…. My tacoma on 34s was pricey! But it performed great and went just about anywhere!

Yep.

My skinny 33.1" Toyos have done everything I've asked of them here in Colorado. On stock wheels they clear the bars fully. But they come with two caveats.

One, I don't wheel anything too aggressive anymore. The Ranger might see some more extreme action once it's fully paid for.

And two, lately I've been considering spacers, small ½" to 1", in order to get a better looking stance. But it's not worth losing the crashbars to me yet and I don't care enough to start measuring and mathing.

So while I'm generally function over form, aesthetics are important too me. And once I've got something working the way it should I start to consider the looks.

C’mon Jacob, why stop at 34s when 35s look that much cooler? ?

I’m running the same size (275/70R17) and they’re just fine for me as well. ?

Here’s some photos of the rubbing i think if i removed the Fabtech kit which pushes the beam back i‘d still rub but it‘d be on a sharp corner

Or you can unbolt and slide them out...

Ok now i‘m thinking ill remove the fabtech pieces as a test to see how the rubbing looks. I‘m considering downsizing for my next set but these tires have a lot of life left in them. I‘m wondering how people run 35s do they just push the tire out super far or cut everything or just live with the rub? I like the 0 offset and my stance but maybe i‘ll go to spacers. Sliders were going to happen regardless but I won‘t think of them as a replacement for the rear intrusion beam.

Just another incredibly super average dude
I would highly recommend visiting the Tire Calc website
It's an incredible tool where tou can compare sizes and fitment. Keep in mind, if a tire is 2" bigger, you divide that across the center of the rim so your only getting an 1" closer to hard parts. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

I'm running 1.5" spacers and a 2.5" keveler kit. The crash bar removal was easy, with a grinder (not a reciprocal saw), the use a crow bar to bend it down to clear the bumper, or fender..
