well. if the money were spent on prevention and not just on the removal of damage, a lot would be gained.
in general, armed conflicts are no different from fires, floods or earthquakes.
Holyshit just stop lmao.

Let's keep this about the fires and NOT bring up politics, local or federal. These poor people have been through enough and all the finger pointing in the world isn't going to solve a darn thing!
No Politics …

You can’t prevent 100 mph wind and possibly arson ..

No but you can mitigate the damage with proper management and preparation.

Maybe Florida should figure out how to mitigate hurricanes?

Kinda silly to say such a thing, no?

Not at all. I said mitigate the damage. Florida mitigates hurricane damage by having stronger building codes. You can mitigate fire damage in many ways. Get a clue.

Then how should California do it?

Help me "get a clue".

Allow the clearing of underbrush and deadfall. Fill the empty reservoirs when you know wind season is coming. Stop sending fresh water downstream to the sea to save some stupid fish. Don't hack a large portion of the fire fighting budget. Build houses that are more fire resistant (tons of stuff on the internet about why some houses were spared due to construction). And for the fires that were purposely set, well that's self explanatory.
Sorry for not complying with admin request, please warn me before booting me. This is just common sense stuff.

Up here we get high winds off the lake all the time. One of the things they do every fall is cut back anything within about 20 feet of power lines. You don't have a choice, squirrels and owls will find another place to live. Simple things like that prevent fires without having to worry about someone trying to decide when to cut power after sparking contact with vegetation is detected. Simple preventive procedures can make a big difference if you just make it law and arrest anyone trying to interfere. There was plenty of water in pools that also could have made a big difference If proper sprinkler systems were required. Good thing is now they have a chance to enact code changes to prevent future problems and fireproof exterior claddings should be code.
Clean up brush to help with lightning strikes and quit selling lighters to illegals may also slow down man made events ?. Once they start, fires in wind need aggressive action and what's wrong with having 100 scoop planes and helicopters ready to attack on a moments notice.
