Brake squeal is an annoyance we've become accustomed to, with Porsche even explaining in a video that it isn't a bad thing (seen below), but Ford has figured out how to get rid of it almost completely, using an idea so simple, the brake manufacturing industry is going to kick itself for not discovering sooner.

Let me see if I got it straight.
Noise from brake squeal increases as the diameter of the discs and size of brake pads increase due to increase in the levels of friction. They reduce the size of the pad by cutting a notch in it, thereby reducing the levels of friction which results in less squeal.
What's the point of having larger diameter discs if the size of the pad contact area is reduced? Sure, less chatter, squeal and better heat control, but less friction and braking power.

I didn't think this was still a problem? I haven't had brake squeal issues on any of my vehicles in at least the past 20 years, but then again , I have only ever used OEM pads & rotors on all my vehicles.

Wait till they come up with a solution for the rear brake pads wearing out so soon. "Buy our brand new Drum Brake Upgrade kit and never have to replace them again!"

My Ranger brakes squeal a lot, but are still fine. I have burnished them, bur it doesn’t seem to matter.

was following a dump truck the other day for several city blocks, that had such horrible brake squeal it made me want to road rage the honda civic beside me with fart cans because they were barely audible.
seriously dude, can you get louder pipes so i dont have to hear this truck at every light. Would finally have been a good use of unnecessary noise.
