Just wanted to clear the air about my 21 SCAB vibration issues. Recently I posted some rants about intermittent and excessive vibration while at highway cruising speeds. I had noted vibrations were so severe that it made driving a complete hassle. Well finally no more vibrations and I'm finally content this Ranger is capable and satisfying to drive. After thumbing through countless threads about drivetrain design flaws and center bearing angles out of spec. I was convinced this was the root of the problem. Turns out the new tires were not installed correctly and way out of balance. The passenger rear tire had a spacer on it while the remaining 3 tires had mo spacer. Also the spacer did not fit and was loosely attached creating a gap. I acknowledge the truck still is not butter smooth and slight vibrations do exist but for the most part it is far better driving experience than before. Just wanted owners to due their diligence with tire balancing first before jumping to conclusions like I almost did. As for the still existing vibrations, I'm gonna regurgitate the same banter....oh that's normal for a turbo ecoboost 4cyl motor..

Hi Chris,

A proper NVH diagnosis would have likely led to a tire problem indicator and precluded a rant. That said...I am pleased you were able to get a satisfactory remedy to your problem. For these niggling vibration concerns, your dealer should have NVH diagnostic capability to id the source of these vibrations. Likely is residual tire related but could be a secondary cause. If dealer balks...find another dealer....

Best,
Phil

What in the heck does 1 rear tire had a spacer and the others didn’t mean? No idea what’s going on w your truck.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Just who would add a spacer to ONE wheel! That's beyond stupid (sorry if that's harsh but Really!) and then not balance the other tires, you need to have a serious talk with the person who put those on.

Hi Phil. I did call and request frequency testing previously, however both dealers said they had no frequency detection equipment on hand. Additionally I made service appointment for drive shaft angle measurement per TSB but after showing up to my appointment the tech basically said to come back another day when he has more staff because TSB steps looked to be too complex and take too much time. ( I can't make this stuff up). After all that is when I lost confidence in them and decided to bypass them altogether. BTW this is same dealer who left behind the undersized mystery spacer after tire rotation. Thankfully a national tire chain found and corrected.

Man your telling me. Its crazy as hell. Offroad shop in town on business for 30yrs is who I suspect did it. They are the ones who did lift and add new wheels & tires. They confirmed to me that tires were balanced and no spacers needed. Drove the truck approx 400 miles vibrating and cussing the whole time. Then tires got rotated at Ford dealer where I guess they put spacer back on. So it happened at one of those 2 places. Only after going to national tire chain store did they find the culprit. Along with correctly rebalancing tires that never were balanced in the first place. Starting to get upset jist thinking about it again. Regardless tho I'm happy camper now and thrilled to have the truck

What it means is some people are either lazy or incompetent or both.
