Easy install CURT 7 pin connector

Hi guys, I don't have a towing package. Just put on my hitch and now trying to figure out my 7 pin situation. Is there any down side to running something like this curt 7 pin that piggybacks off of my factory harness?

Does the trailer pull any significant wattage off of the 7 pin connector? Does bypass any of the Ranger's towing features?
