I decided to start the sound deadening process today after getting the Dynamat stuff in the mail. There are a ton of options out there but I eventually went with Dynamat Xtreme for the cost-to-quality. After reading countless reviews, watching videos, and scouring the forums, this was the right choice for me.
The install was easier than I was expecting although I did break one clip on the door panel but the panel still sits flush and secure so not replacing that one. The black goop holding the gray sound foam (behind the door panel) to the door wasn't that bad to get off. Just take your time, making sure you pull it away from the door and not rip the foam. It stuck back onto the door without issues afterwards.
Working inside the door panel wasn't too bad. I'm tall but kinda skinny and didn't have much trouble moving my arms inside the door. The Dynamat stuff is very sticky but not so bad that you can't move it around a little if it contacts the door. Once you push it on though, it's there for good. I cut the Dynamat into squares, about 12x12, to make it easier to work with. Some pictures and videos below. One video not included was the difference in sound when opening and closing the doors. I did a comparison between the drivers and passengers and it was very noticeable however, you couldn't really tell in the video. Sorry I didn't take more but I was kinda rushing to beat a storm coming in. It's not quite snow-pocalypse here in south Alabama but rain is coming.
Results: I haven't checked road noise yet but I'm not expecting much difference because, so far, I've only done this one door. Will finish with the other doors when the weather improves and report back.
First pic: Was half way done at this point. You can see the crash bar in the door. I chose not to do any Dynamat on or around that. I don't think it will matter in the long run. Let me know if y'all have done anything different.
First video: Half way done. Did a sound check to see the difference. Top is stock, bottom has the Dynamat. The difference was even more obvious than the video.
Second video: This is the passenger door, still stock. Just wanted to compare.
Third video: All done with the drivers door. Comparing the sound to the back door.
