Occasionally, but not always, I will get error messages on my 2019 Ranger XLT telling me that the stability control, hill assist, cruise control and other driver assists have cancelled. This happens only when towing my travel trailer with the 7-pin connector plugged in. Unplugging the trailer, or turning off the truck, resets everything and all will be well for awhile. There appears to be no problem with the trailer (a Rockwood 2104s) and all of its electrics work fine.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Do you have a brake controller installed? If so, what kind?

Yes, I do. When I bought the truck in at the end of 2019 the electric brake controller wasn’t available yet from Ford. I couple months later it came in and the dealer installed it. I don’t know the make or brand. It’s whatever Ford installs.

Do you have a code reader to see what DTCs are stored? That should help in troubleshooting.

I do but it needs to be updated. Something to work on.

We encountered the same thing when we towed with our 2020 Lariat about a year and a half ago. It would only happen occasionally when starting out from a stop. We have not towed since and it has never happened without towing. I was thinking it was possibly an ABS sensor not liking something.

We never pursued it any further.
