I'm sure this has to be here but my search prowess is lacking today and I've not yet found anything on this so let me described the situation
1. iPhone 11 Pro
2. Wired connection to Carplay
3. using the Apple music app to look at music that is downloaded to the phone
4. Car is in motion
5. Select Artist
now here instead of seeing the full list I only see a list of recently played artists, and it looks like they should be available (i.e. not greyed out) but you can't press the buttons at all.
When you stop the list shown is replaced with a list of all artists.
So this seems sort of weird I could understand if for safety they wanted to reduce cognitive load with a reduced list but then that list ought to work should it not? Otherwise what's the point of showing anything other than maybe a message which says "Use voice commands to select artist while driving"
Is this just some setting I can not find either on the car or the Phone?
