I suppose Ford could put lock status either on the home screen or the vehicle status screen, but I don't think it is a big deal to hit the lock icon if I'm unsure. The app loads & responds slow enough as it is. I understand why, but adding another stream of 1's & 0's would likely slow it down more.
It depends on cell signal of the truck and your phone.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I used to consider myself computer savvy, but someone who runs Macs needs to walk me through all this, what's needed and how to set it up.
Go to this link and run the 1st three 'Required shortcuts', once loaded select the 'Feature shortcuts' you want one at a time. They will be installed in the 'Shortcuts' app on your iPhone. If you don't know how to install a shortcut (easy as all of the work has been done ) go to the second link. Be sure to rename the shortcut to 'Truck' from 'car', that is the ONLY thing you need to change, then add the shortcut at the bottom.

As Josh said there's no distance limitations. Most of the time when I do this we're at a restaurant or out shopping so not a huge distance but it still works and you'll receive confirmation too.
Fordpass operates on cell network.

If it wasn't locked then it really wasn't "broken into".
They just opened the door and took what they wanted.
I'm just sayin'. :giggle:

this is how it works in my area...

a nighttime creeper gets a slap on the wrist for opening doors and taking trinkets....keep it below that magical value and it's petty theft. The Police will lecture you on lock it or lose it and it's your problem, your learning experience.
however, smash a window and take something expensive, you've just upped that wrist slap into possible jail time.
In Canada though, that's still minor in nature, even frequent flyers breeze in and out of the court system. Get a bed to sleep on, hot showers, meals.....good deal for someone with nothing to lose.
My office is in a strip plaza in suburban Pittsburgh and I rarely lock the doors and when it’s hot I leave the windows down. I don’t worry since in this neighborhood my Ranger makes me one of The Poors. There are Bobby Rahal dealers either way up and down the road selling Bentleys, Mercedes, Jaguars, etc. and the Saturday cars and coffee at another mall down the road looks like a Porsche and Ferrari drag race on the highway.

People should learn to lock their cars upon exit. I never gave credibility to people who left their kids in hot cars either.

Slightly off topic: leaving valuables in vehicles.

My Ranger has the Ford - Thinkware camera setup installed. Fortunately, it's three devices all mounted up close to the rear view mirror. (1) Forward camera-main unit. (2) Rear facing camera. (3) GPS antenna. Not terribly conspicuous unless one is looking for the setup.

A few years back, I was given a bargain basement forward facing traffic cam that is the size of a cigarette case, stuck to the windshield by a giant suction cup. Works well enough but WAY too conspicuous to leave in a vehicle stuck to the windshield without attracting the wrong kind of attention. I carry it in my Chrysler and leave it inside of the console when not in use. Hoping everyone considers a traffic cam as they are priceless IMO.

One option I'd love to see on U.S. Rangers.
