DIY Flat Bed Rack

Hey guys, so I threw this together with scrap parts I found from around. Clamps are like camper shell clamps. Shelves are from those wire kitchen type racks.

Trying to save up for a real rack later. But the shelves are adjustable, you can slide them over a bit, remove one or both, whatever you need. I'm going to mount some boxes and a jack and maybe some recovery boards, etc. to them.


I know it's dark, but I'm impatient.

Rack worked great so far offroad. Added a couple of milwaukee packout mounting plates to facilitate mounting the boxes. These boxes are great for stacking and quick removal. Planning on setting up boxes for first aid, recovery gear, etc. Even with all the bouncing around, they had no issues yet. The orange straps are just my paranoia keepers, haha.

Update, the yakima front loader bike racks work great with it. Just removed one of my panels and slid the other over.

Another update...


Built a complete rack for a roof top tent. Gave the flat rack to my son for his truck and tent. Both racks worked great, no issues, even bombing the dunes at Pismo.
