I'm adding a camper to my Ranger and want to disable the Cargo Lamp behind the cab for a few reasons but mostly because I do not want to have it activate once the camper is mounted as it would serve no purpose. I also find it obnoxiously bright in the backcountry and don't wish to have it "on" every time I open the doors. There is a reference to the light on page 82 but I do not see the fuse location indicated anywhere in my owners manual. I would also like to know the amperage of the dash switch because I want to use that button for my air compressor once I disconnect the Cargo Light. Any help or resources are appreciated.

Pull the cargo lamp assembly out and unplug it. There are separate plugs for cargo lamp and brake lights.

The switch in the dash won't do you any good, it is a CAN switch.

I was going to say, take the bulb out, but unplugging is even better.

Copy that Daniel- Forgive the electrical newbie questions...so unplugging the lamp assembly will not result in an open-circuit fault or information display error..?

Where is the plug located?

I have not tried disabling my cargo lamp but (I am only guessing here) since the cargo lamp isn't a safety problem I don't see them spending money on current sensing circuitry.

Where is the plug located?
Right at the cargo lamp housing. You can barely see it here.

It would take less than 5 minutes for one of you to try it. If I remember correctly you will need a Torx screwdriver to remove the housing.

Thanks for the clarification and attachment Daniel.
