Does the diff lock button require more of a deliberate press of the button as comapred to the Auto start-stop button next to it? Just curious. Was playing around and wanted to test my diff lock, I found that I had to actually press and hold it briefly (like I meant to push it) whereas the Auto start-stop you can just tap like you would your phone screen. If I tap the diff lock button in the same manner...does nothing.
I literally was having trouble turning diff lock on and off until I realized I can't just tap the button. That I need to press and hold briefly.
Intended function or bad button?

Yes, have to press and hold for a few to engage it.
Ok perfect!. I assumed that. Just wasn't fully sure as this push button method is new to me coming from a 2019 F150 with the pull knob. Truck is going in to have Sync 3 fordpass remote start fixed, my USB update messed it up a little it may seem. So I figured if I had a bad button id get it taken care of then. But obviously its functioning as intended.
Thanks!

the owners manual.....yep, some people read it....doesnt state anything about holding the button to activate it.
it does however indicate that it takes some movement to engage it.
perhaps the indicator doesnt come on, until it has engaged.

I did notice that it doesn't state anything about needing to press it for any duration of time. However after going back outside and testing it while only in Park, it definitely needs a press and hold for 1-2 seconds until the little symbol appears/disappears on the dash.

Probably a safety thing written into the programming to prevent accidental pressing/activation of the system. Long enough to be "are you sure", but still short enough to be done quickly without sitting around waiting.

Yep, same when rolling at about 5mph.

It's still doable to engage by accident. I've done it before somehow. If you:e never had a locker I suggest engaging it for a bit to get used to the way they sound on pavement. That way you'll know if you accidentally engage it.

I also concur with what's already been said. It does indeed require a more deliberate activation. Damn, I love a locking rear on the trail!

In this video, when my truck touches down at the bottom of this gigantic hole, you can hear my engine surge. That's because my dumb ass forgot to lock the rear before going in and I had some gnarly wheel lift and no power to the ground. It seemed like forever to lock the rear end. HAHAHAHA!
