Just ran across a Ranger towing comparison last night that I found interesting. It was done in Australia and made me realize that a Ranger is not a Ranger is not a Ranger everywhere. While here in the states we are relegated to just one engine choice, the 2.3L EcoBoost, the Aussies have 3 choices in the current model year. A 2.2L, a 3.2L and a 2.0L dual turbo (referred to as a Bi-turbo) - all diesels. It appears that no gasoline option is offered down under.
The towing comparison was between the 3.2L TDCI and the 2.0L bi-turbo. The 2.0 won hands down pulling a camping trailer loaded up to almost the max rated weight of 7500#. I can't help but wonder how it would stack up to our stateside 2.3 EcoBoost. I also can't help but wonder why Ford USA doesn't offer an engine option.
Hmmm.
