You're right, but it is common practice nowadays... only without the buyers choice.
You must then think it is hilarious when Subaru takes credit for supporting animal charities with the buyers money, then taking the write-off and the credit for being so magnanimous?
Or the shoe company who donates a pair for every pair you buy, only you don't get half price if you disagree.
There's a sock company which does the same.
None of the others offer the buyer cash instead.

What's worse?... How about 0% financing OR $2500 off .... That's $2500 INTEREST!
Guess these offers are out there only because they work???
