Sorry for posting this type of question again (tire fitment questions), I've searched for hours and couldn't find a definitive answer.

I have a 2021 STX 4x4 with the eibach leveling struts set to 3"

I am looking at some 285/70/17 but reading through these forums, a lot of people are saying this may be a bad idea since I may get some rubbing or run into other issues.

I do not want to cut anything or get spacers. Just new tires on my stock 17" sport rims.

Can I go the 285 route, if not what size is the biggest size I can go for sure without running into problems?

Thank you!

Not going to work. You would, at minimum, need a small spacer (like 1/4") to gain clearance from the tire to spindle/knuckle and there is a possibility that the tire will rub the crash bars/covers at full lock. Some don't, some do.

Plenty of people do 3" level with the 1/4 inch spacer and 285s and have no problems. Some need aftermarket crash bars even with the "same" setup. Rubbing would be minimal anyways, if any. Just go for it. Rubbing is easy to fix with aftermarket bars and 285s.

So if you are not using spacers or buying different wheels the Firestone Destination XT IN 285/70-17 will fit with that leveling kit. Whta all will you have to do? Remove the plastic covers from the front crash bars and push them forward. After that the only rubbing you should see is at full lock due to it hitting the sway bar a little bit. Other than that you will be fine.

I just replaced my stock Bridgestone Dueler H/T 255/65/17's with the same size Continental TERRAIN CONTACT H/T's and what a difference! So much quieter and not as bouncy. They do make much better contact especially on wet roads. Those bridge stones were so slippery. If I hit the turbo even slightly with the Bridgestones she would spin on me. I love these Continentals.
I talk to the Ford service advisor about going to a little bit bigger tires and they told me you had to worry about the transmission output shaft and warranty would not cover any damage to it with bigger size tires in stock. I haven't looked into it but that sounded very feasible. Perhaps with other transmissions it's not such an issue but I think we know these Ranger transmissions might not take to the bigger wheels so kindly. Not my expertise on this issue. Continental has a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. They also make the same tires with an A/T and it's rated just as good for wet traction.
I agree with the rubbing. Keep the same size tires and you won't go wrong. I don't like to give companies plugs but I think discount tires had the best deal going around and because their national it's easy to get warranty work.

I ended up going with 265/70/17 which are not much bigger than what came with the truck. My truck came with 265/60/18 so not a huge leap. Still looks great but don’t have to worry about rubbing or horrendous MPG

Actually, a little bit bigger tire was not an issue they said.
