Long story short I'm on vacation next week some of the phone calls I need to make are to cancel my gap insurance and my extended warranty.

Basically a small $50 fee then a pro rated amount.

I should get refunded somewhere between $1500-$2000 in total.

My question is pretty simple has anyone else here gone through this process and should I prepare myself to deal with pushy sales people or a lot of push back in general.

My dealer sold me one of these. Once I found out it wasn't a Ford warranty but a shady third party I had to make a few repeated calls to the dealership and emails to the warranty company. Was a bit tough to get ahold of the manager but once I did he mailed me a form to sign and send in. Basically the warranty co needed a form signed by both the dealership manager and me and once they got that they sent me a check for about $2100. It wasn't too bad considering and they didn't give me any kind of argument. I think the manager already got paid so he didn't seem to care much.

I think anytime you cancel a service/product that results in them sending you a check, you can expect some level of sales pitch aimed at changing your mind.

I've done this in a car, my Kawasaki, and my Harley. It really is as easy as signing the paper and sending it in. The dealers handled submitting each time. Takes awhile to get the check, but its not hard.

Yup, that was all that was involved.

The loan for my Ranger was through US Bank. When I traded it in, they sent me a letter saying that THEY were going to do the work getting my GAP refunded... and they did. Refund check showed up a couple weeks later.
