Actually the last time I got stuck was in Nov. 1969 at Fort Hood Texas when I obeyed my sergeant's orders to go a certain way even though I told him there was heavy mud that way. Of course this was in front of battalion field command HQ. They had to eventually call an APC to pull us out.

I wouldn't worry too much guys, the Ranger has been sold in Australia and South East Asia since 2011, and there have been very few reports of failed drive train components. In fact I can't think of many reported diff failures in the Aus forums apart from a few E-lockers failed electrically. I think you must have just been unlucky.

In fact the only reported power train failures of note have been cooked 6R80 transmission torque convertors - mostly from towing 3000+ Kg caravans in 40 deg C heat for hours at a time, and/ or up mountains, a few blown 3.2 diesels caused by over fueling from sticky piezo injectors, - often from contaminated diesel, failure of the variable pressure vane type oil pump, failed EGR coolers dumping coolant into the engine, and of course a few blown turbos.

Generally the trucks are reliable, well liked ,and very popular here.
