no word of a lie, my neighbor used aluminium down spouts with a 90 degree, (in brown) to fix his lost tailpipe on his GMC.
Literally riveted it to the end of his muffler and put bathroom silicone around it for a good seal.

But in all seriousness, make sure you ceramic coat the inside for smoother airflow.

If you go with this exhaust mod, be sure to give it an extra wrap of duck tape to prevent the plastic from melting, and spray the inside with some high heat paint to prevent same on inside.

I'll bet if you removed the muffler and replaced it with a straight piece of PVC pipe from Lowe's, the effect would be the same.
Like Rockhound, just wrap it with some duck tape and no one will be the wiser !!!

Honestly if you just wrapped them in fiberglass and take a weekend to sand n form.. Look pretty slick.
Ditch the mesh screen, it'll just rust and look like crap after a while.
