Not much of anything melted off today, the High was 28 degrees 🙄. The sun managed to melt most of the ice and snow off of the parking pad and the walk way.
This seems to be my favorite side view shot of the truck when backed up in front of the house.
Looking North toward the river lol.

Took the Ranger over to the burg yesterday and when I came back across the ferry, I stopped to fill her up. While I was pumping petrol, this monster pulled in. Love it.

That is cool!
Not to mention something that you don't see everyday.

Wicked cool!!

When I first started reading it and you said "Took the Ranger over to the burg yesterday" I thought "Don't tell me he traded it in for this"?

I have to say I was a little disappointed when I read you didn't . lol

It's nice for me to see that I am not the only member on here that is "scattered automotivly." As David Freiburger from ROADKILL would say.

I'm just catching up on the east coast storm today. It looks like the Carolinas got hit pretty good with Lexington,NC getting 11" and still snowing.

Just incredible there looks to be no sign of this Winter pattern changing anytime soon. This is the next 10 days and the N'East stay frigid. 🥶

I was bow hunting in the early 90s in the Everglades and my friend who was an avid snake hunter. He got snakes for the Miami serpentarium. And we were walking down this trail and he suddenly said this place looks very snakey snakey snakey and there was a diamond back stretched across the path that was huge he, he struck at my friend and I remember feeling his foot as he jumped over my shoulder, and I let an arrow fly and hit him in the middle of the wad. We put three broad heads through the head of the snake just to let you know how big he was and we took him and weighed him at 17 pounds my friend was a butcher and we were accustomed to eating all types of wildlife and he did a perfect fillet on that diamond back and we ate him. He put it in a cast-iron pan with just butter. It tasted very good and that wasn’t the first one we ate..
I think the record for a SouthEastern Diamond back rattle snake is just over 9'. He was found in the Everglades years ago near Homestead. They get BIG down there. I've got several old photos of big rattlers in South Fla. I found this one, but the other that I am looking for was 2 kids around 10-12 years old holding a rattler over their heads with both ends touching the ground! Much bigger than the one in the image below from the early 1900 - 1920 time period, looks to be 6'-8'' long

In the greater Raleigh area, missed most snow until 2 hours ago, but coming down hard now. 3" on the ground, but I think it is dropping at about 1" / hour. I think we'll see 4"-6" before it is over. 17F right now with gusty winds. First time my covered front porch has been covered with snow ever in 20+ years here in this house.

I can't seem to say this enough, but being a member of this forum and this Family. Thank you. Ya'll have helped me to keep my sanity and remain calm in certain situations, where in the past I would have panicked a little. Because I am not used to this type of weather like so many of you are.
We all need a hand at some point. Never be ashamed of listening when the chronologically advanced offer advice from their experiences. Even the youngins can teach us long-in-the-tooth guys something! I started that new part time retirement job at the gun store today. Holy crap! I haven't had to start at the beginning in over thirty years!! The owner's son who is likely younger than my daughter was training me on procedures and the computerized tills. I don't know what's tougher, this or hostile teenagers in the classroom! A lot to remember. In time! Point being I'm going to have to rely on the other employees for a bit until I have it down.

That’s what I’ve heard and read. I’ll pick the black snakes up all day long and the racers and water snakes don’t bother me. The copperheads I have tongs for.

We got copperheads around here. Nasty dispositions! They like my engineered wall. I don't like them close. They aren't real long, 2'-3', but they are thick!
