son of a beach... no wonder everyone is moving to my state and leaving the left coast. California saying all pickups are commercial is like saying all people on corners are prostitutes.
Still some of those around? I thought they all went LGBTQIA2S+

Only NJ beats us on property tax. WI? You guys are way down the list at #6. :)

LINK
Thanks for the link...incredible that Hawaii is the lowest taxed state anywhere!
However, the average price of 615K for a new home buys you a cookie cutter place located in areas on Oahu were you'll find stuck in rush hour traffic at least 2 hours a day in your daily commute. Not to mention the house is built on a zero lot line piece of property...so if your neighbor farts you'll know they had lunch at Taco Bell! ?

$508.37 on a 2019 Lariat for 2022 in Mississippi. Lotta money for someone in my reduced circumstances.

You should move to Missouri. It's only around $50 for two year renewal. Of course, Mo. doesn't have enough money to repair our roads but at least the license fee is cheap.
What part of MO are you in ?

license fees are not intended to be general revenue. They are intended to cover registration costs.
You do have adequate fuel tax and federal highway funds to cover the cost of roads.

They FORGOT to mention MO issues vehicle PROPERTY-TAX 6 months into each/every vehicle-registration
.
IF the property-tax bill is NOT paid, you can NOT re-new your MO tab.
.
That's WHY MO tabs are BACK in the center of the license plates... people were pinching off the corners to steal the registration-stickers to avoid paying the mid-year tax.

.......................................................................

NOW Missouri is making all owners PROVE they paid 2021 & 2022 property taxes [21 & 22 receipt copies] on their vehicle(s) BEFORE you can re-new 2024/2025 year TABs this year!

Ironically enough... Michigan is offering TWO year renewal option for the first time.
I only do the one year renewal as they don't give enough of a discount for two. I'm not looking forward to the new tax when I get my '23 Tremor in a few weeks. :curse:

IllAnnoy is likely the most corrupt state in the union, yet it did away with personal property tax more than 50 years ago.
If we did have such a tax , or even registration based on vehicle value, then I would still be driving my 2001 Ranger..
Our real estate tax is obscene (more than rent is in most states.) adding the equivalent of a "real estate tax" to vehicles would definitely be the last straw.
We are strongly considering moving to a free state as it is.
Missouri would be an improvement.
Giving money to politicians is like giving booze to alcoholics, they just slurp all it up, and look around for more.

Whew!! Please pardon the rant! :giggle:

I guess the DOT needs extra funding to make repairs to your Interstate highways

Yeah, we spent billions on elevated rail that doesn't really go anywhere while the highways look like the moon.

(FYI, your tongue in cheek poke at our one island "interstate" highways wasn't lost on me - it is a little silly).
