So my registration tags in Michigan were up in March... They were 250$, that's nutty.

That is all...

EDIT: I guess this is "off topic" now. I figured a discussion about Ranger registration would go under General Ranger Discussions, but I guess I was wrong :) Sorry for any confusion.

For how many vehicles? For my 5 vehicles and 1 motorcycle this year I was over $600.

It's just for the Ranger... Thanks Michigan... This is up about 100$ from my last vehicle, and my wife's current vehicle...

Keeping in mind my wife drives a fully loaded Edge Sport, and I drove a $36K Jeep prior to the ranger purchase. It's all because it's new, and basically it only goes down marginally for the next 3 years until it stays at about 200$ forever.

You should move to Missouri. It's only around $50 for two year renewal. Of course, Mo. doesn't have enough money to repair our roads but at least the license fee is cheap.

Missouri will have better roads than MI, I'd almost guarantee it. Parts of I75 literally look like they are gravel roads, and that is an Interstate Highway... I actually got a truck because I've broken so many wheels on cars it was a smart financial decision :)

Don't move to Connecticut.

On top of registration fees, we pay car tax every year which is based on 70% of the vehicle's value.

Last year alone for two cars I paid over $900 just in taxes....and that's EVERY year.

I've gone through 1 wheel, 3 tires and a wheel bearing on my Focus over the past two winters.

Washington near Seattle isn't any better, licensing and state/local fees added up to over $600 for just the ranger. Most of that is extra vehicle taxes to pay for mass transit projects. It sucks but hey, roads aren't free right?

Are those fee's you pay on the truck every year? We have sales tax (6%) too that I paid, and if I ever sell, that person will pay as well.

Every year will probably be around $150-$200 for tabs. In addition to the $600 I had to pay 10% sales tax, so over $5000 added to sale price. And yep, a future buyer will have to pay the tax too based on calculated depreciation. That baffles me, seems like double-dipping. Ha ha I should have started up a business so I could write off the Ranger as a business expense. Oh wait never mind the standard deduction just doubled so it wouldn't matter. Ha ha no way to win!

Move to Mississippi and pay $850 + for tags on the new tuck $700 + on the GT350 the other vehicles are old so $150. And then add a motorcycle $50. And then pay for the insurance $2000.00 plus change a year. And no I don't have kids, over 60, and I have a class A CDL, and haven't had a ticket in 25 years.

Were a nofault state here, insurance rates are some of the highest in the nation. This is on top of our 5th highest in the nation gas tax and other nonsense. The current gov wants a $.45/gallon additional gas tax too that would make us highest in the nation by a few dimes.
