Our elderly neighbors do not take care of their yard which is now a rodent kingdom. Using a cheap security camera on the side of our garage, I discovered how many mice there are. They often come 2, 3, or 4 at a time.

My goal is to make sure they do not get into our garage or home.

I was using two Havahart traps. Small size for mice, larger for rats (we seldom have rats). Emptying the trap became more unpleasant and the foul urine destroys the metal mouse trap.

Time for a change in strategy . . .

I use only a small dab of crunchy peanut butter for bait. No chemicals or poisons, no bloody snap traps, no smashed carcasses or other mess to clean up.

I added the Digital Strike Counter which mounts to the CO2 gas cartridge. 31 mice so far and still on the second gas cartridge.

It often "traps" more than one mouse per night. Some nights have 2, 3, and even 4. They just walk on top of each to reach the bait.

This trap system is not cheap. But for effectiveness and convenience, it's great. I toss the "no-chemical/poison" bodies over the back fence for wildlife snacks.

Plenty of good you tube videos on the A24.

I’ve recently acquired a garage cat, and she’s killed around 5 mice a bird and a chipmunk. I’m hoping she will keep the mice at bay haha

Albeit expensive, Those are great traps !
I've been building various lethal and non lethal traps for years.
The most fun use a electronic sensor to activate motor.
the motor is either a vacuum cleaner to suck the mouse into a chamber or a blender which is modified that the rat must crawl past its blade to reach the bait. When the sensor trips, the rat panics to escape.
And there is only one way out..
Either way, my chickens are well fed...
