bed rack mounting questions

hey everyone! i have a few questions about how the bed racks mount on these trucks i havent looked to much into it (since i have my trailer) but looked on the forum and not many show the actual location of how the bed rack mounts to the truck? im use to my tacoma and its factory rails in the bed and thats how it mounts and holds things down. so if anyone has a bed rack that you bought or even made if i could see how you made/got the legs that attach to the bed that would be great!

reason for this is im trying to either find low profile bed legs so i can use my thule bars on my m100 camping trailer for when i dont want to take the trailer with me. (reason for this is when i want to take my dual sport places or more then one dual sport with me aka friends bikes)

the other reason why i want to see ones that people have made one is to see how they did it and to see if its possible to make some cheap and simple legs to also work with the bars i already have so then i dont have to shell out 500 bucks for something ill use so rarely and ill have something thats universal!

Yakima Bedrock HD is really easy to take on and off. Just unlock, open the cams (which is the face)and unscrew. They'll mount anywhere under the rail that there isn't a piece of the rail cap sticking through from above, which is most of the rail.

I can't say that the mounts wouldn't work with Thule bars. You can also use Yakima HD bars on the same baseline mounts that their Jetstream bars use, so the t-slot mounting point on the Bedrock mount is nothing crazy. It's a square bolt that is tightened from underneath with an Allen wrench.

Too much. $590 retail right now. I found the bars scratch and dent at a local shop and bought a "returned" set of the mounts off ReRack, so I spent about $500 total.

yikes! ya thats what im trying to stay away from is spending that kind of money tbh... since i wont use a bed rack often ( i prefer my trailer) it would just be useful to have when i need it

I can also use the bars with roof mount feet if I need, so they do a little bit of double duty for me.

Something like this is less $$$, but is harder to mount and a less secure.

ya no thanks ive dealt with that company in the past with my tacoma and its overpriced junk my rack bent and rusted within in 4 months and i never even did anything to it but have my tent bolted on... kbvoodoo belongs in one place the trash...

Fair enough. I have their PRO-X crossbars and they are rock solid and super strong.

All the racks for our trucks are going to mount by drill and bolt or use C-Clamps.

The Yakima Bedrock is technically a clamp too, but doesn't require tools to tighten which is kinda cool. After the bolts are a little snug by hand, the lock cover has a cam action that tightens them so that they snug up really tight. It's a cool design. I guess a really big pair of channel locks might be able to just turn the bolt, which has no head, but it wouldn't be an easy endeavor.

I'm actually in the process of making a chase rack myself. I'm just using some tool box clamps running through my fab. You can get a set of 4 on Amazon for about $12.
