So i had a thought and wanted to see if anyone had tried yet. I'm thinking of installing an after market stereo along with using the oem. The idea is to add a center channel in the factory location running off the oem stereo. Then add an after market either in the center console or glove box. for just the "radio" like a hide away. i want to do a faceplate relocation. so id 3d print something for the dash tray to hold the face plate to control it. With aftermarket i have good pre amp outs for the amplifier .

Nothing at all against you personally, but possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

Couldn’t tell you How exactly but folks hook up amps and subs to the factory Sync3 system all day long.

Seems like a lot of unnecessary work. There are modules you can hook up to the factory system that allow you to run aftermarket amplifiers that power your speakers/subs.

To answer your question, I have not seen this done by anyone yet on this forum, likely due to the above statement.

Is this something you are just wanting to do for fun? Or is your sole purpose to be able to urn aftermarket equipment and retain the SYNC system? If the latter, look into the module that hooks into the stock ford SYNC system.

its more of the want to use after market. i have the harness and a lc7 to run off the factory setup. i hate the factory has so much integration and messes with the sound so bad. This is coming from a guy who spent about 6k on a system in his 20's.. i dont want fake engine noise or noise cancelling. i know i can forscan it away. I just like the idea of oem sync with one speaker in the dash for all the truck stuff. and a real purpose built for sound quality aftermarket head unit for sound.

Not a bad idea at all! I did it in the past using an EQ with aux input so i could switch between the factory and an aftermarket unit with much better sound quality. There are units now that have an aux input that you could use for the factory radio. The idea has been in the back of my mind for a while. I like the faceplate relocation idea though, i hadn't considered that.
