Just the XM problem is why I would have gone a different route. I must have my XM especially here in the Rockies where you easily lose AM and FM Radio
Agreed and I may end up going a different route if they can't get the XM working via Satellite or I might ask them to refund me like $100 to cover the cost of the XM receiver + antenna adapter so I can still get XM via satellite provided that there is a way to interface the SVX300V1 with their unit.

There always has to be the first person to do something so everyone else can make an informed decision. I may or may not be the first for this in my Ranger, but hopefully my experience will help others and maybe even improve the next version of this product to be that much better.

What an excellent write-up! Much appreciated.

I’m particularly interested in whether you’re able gain back satellite XM or not. It is extremely important for me to be able to get weather info when in the middle of nowhere where satellite is the only way to connect. Without it it’s a deal breaker.

please let us know when or if you’re able to make SVX300V1 work with this.

thanks again for such a great job.

Ok all, here is where we are at after some trials and tribulations with the Yulu unit - I am going to have to remove it. They could not get the XM working. They got it close, but it was never able to tune. Other than that the Android version being 12 meant it didn't work with my garage door opener and I could've probably lived with that but the XM was a killer for this unit. I tried everything I could to work with Yulu and get things all working correctly and about 95% of it did but when there are certain apps, the voice push button on the steering wheel, and XM were not working I cannot justify the expense for this unit. Yulu has a 30 day warranty and I will be getting all of the money back + my shipping to them refunded.

However, AmericanTrucks has this unit which is essentially the same BUT does not lack the top unit where most of the GPS/SiriusXM stuff lives. It is essentially the same unit but with all of the actually necessary programming. I specifically asked them if it works with XM and Sync functions and they said that it does. I went and found their facebook page - (3) Facebook and they are in PA which should mean better service overall.

So the American Trucks unit will be here Sunday (The same day I take the other unit out) and then I will get the unit installed by their installer (they make you pay to have it installed to keep the warranty). Lucky for their installer they will get a Truck which already has pretty much everything removed and ready for them.

I think that the problem for Yulu is that they are in China and in China there are certain aspects of the Android Automotive Operating System they cannot access and they have to do work arounds. American Trucks being US Based means they won't suffer the same problem.

Stay tuned for round 2.

Well round 2 was worse than round 1 - Not only does that company force you to pay for an install and then say you're scheduled when you're not but things they indicate should work on that unit don't. I was unable to get any of the android auto working, none of the sync3 stuff works, it comes with a mobile data antenna....but no freaking SIM card slot, and there is no canbus items like they portrait in their sites pictures. At least it comes Sirius XM ready? which means no tuner you have to buy that one I mentioned before. So now that one will come out and be returned as well.

Sadly, I found out the mobile data antenna is for this iGo thing that costs you an extra $150 on top of the already exorbitant price of this unit.

So I will rip this out today, put my stock Sync 3 unit back in and do some more research.

Oh look - Navos Ranger Gen 5 12.10-Inch T-Style Radio with Bang and Olufsen Radio Adapter FR25992 (19-23 Ranger w/ B&O Sound System) - Free Shipping (americantrucks.com) On This page they mention it doesn't retain any of the SYNC3 stuff

On

Navos Ranger Gen 5 12.10-Inch T-Style Radio TS-FDRG12-1RR-5B (19-23 Ranger) - Free Shipping (americantrucks.com) It doesn't say any of that.

Do you have the XL 4" screen or the regular touch screen 8"?

Have you looked at Dynavin's headunits? There's not a ton of reviews/info for Rangers, but they're very popular and established with Mustangs.

I've been looking at this one but haven't got it yet. It does look like you'd need an additional part for the XM radio, but the price point is much easier to swallow and looks OEM

I have the 8 inch touch screen, which is "fine" but there are some very specific things I am looking to do. That screen doesn't really make the things that bug me about the stock ford unit any better.

Got it - that makes sense. I've got the 4" and am looking to go to a bigger screen, so we've got different goals. Still curious to see what you end up with
