My 2019 Ranger has developed an odd noise. It only happens when turning and applying brakes. It’s kind of a groan noise rather than a grind. i pulled both wheels today and couldn’t find anything obviously wrong with the brakes. Thoughts? Edit: it’s: more common on dirt roads.

Welcome to ABS and Traction Control. This is a normal condition. How so you ask? The ABS and Traction Control are doing it's.beat to keep the brakes from locking up and causing a slide. Quite normal all together

I wonder how come I haven’t heard it in the previous 40,000 miles?

Change in harmonics due to pad wear/extension from the caliper.

I have no idea what I am talking about but it sounds right in my head.
