I just got off the phone with Stage3 and they're telling me the 8 pin plug gets mounted on a bracket that hangs down below the bottom of the bumper. I can't do that. Back to Square 1

What's the problem? You can always mount the trailer plug in somewhere else, if you don't want it hanging down?

As I will be the installer, the problem is having to cut a hole in a brand new bumper. I would obviously have to pay an "installer" to cut the hole so it doesn't hang off the bumper like a ballsack. I ain't doing that.

I tied into the reverse wire on the back side of the 7 pin connector. Super easy.

Thanks so much for this diagram. It got me connected up and working. I will say though, we had to cut a lot of material off this bumper to get it to mount correctly. This simple drawing cut a lot of time off the install as most of the wasted time was angle grinding this bumper into place. It made me want to go back and blast the bumper seller for not being up front about all the cutting and grinding we had to do to make it fit. But my buddy (who is the real expert here) said that it's typical for aftermarket anything and leave the poor chinese guy alone...well ok.. If we would have wanted to cut a hole for the 7 pin plug in the previously discussed version with the outer footsteps, I'm certain we'd still be out there trying to get the hole completely cut. Not easy peasy to cut thru that chinese steel even though it's chinese steel.

Glad the diagram helped. I saw it posted here a while back and saved it. My brother did a Chinisium bumper on his Bronco in about 20 minutes, not counting wiring the lights. Rangers are much more complicated. I watched a video on it and it is a process, even if it fits properly.

Any pictures of it on your Ranger?

Funny you should mention that. All of a sudden my Android phone will only charge on my PC and not transfer any images.
Go to Settings and search USB Settings.

Almost back in business with this stupid phone crap. But here's the final install photos. Honestly for $400, this is ok for me. I had a twisted OEM bumper from a minor backup ding. I'm keeping the D-Rings off as they are pretty loose fitting and potentially too noisy for this mall crawler. Overall was it worth all the cutting and grinding for a cheap alternative? Let's just say it sucked but in a good kind of way.

EDIT....just for the record...the parts requiring alterations to make it work included:

1. Spare tire key lock had to be removed and replaced with a sensor dust cap from new bumper. Could have been bent and twisted but we settled for that.
2. Inserts for the sensors needed to be altered so they would stay put and accept the OEM sensors. Tricky stuff for a few minutes.
3. The OEM outer sensor iserts are painted and the inners are black to match OEM plastic.. So if you have awhite truck, the outers will be white. Maybe not a big deal for most but something more to think about.

Overall, the new pod lights really do a nice job as backup lights. The new license plate lights work better than the LED bulb upgrade I did since they do not wash out the backup camera at night like the originals.
