This isn’t a Ranger question, so I hope it’s ok. We are about to gift my granddaughter my wife’s ‘12 Honda CRV. It has a backup cam, but I thought parking sensors would help a new driver. Has anyone done this?

I have seen an install but I wasnt impressed. When I was a new driver I didnt get the luxury of backup cameras and parking sensors. I actually had to parallel park a 2002 Chevy express hightop conversion van in my third party road test just to get my license(and it wasnt fun). My suggestion let the vehicle be as it is and let her learn. I can understand wanting a vehicle with safety features but learning a vehicle slowly and carefully will be better for skills in the future.

I learned to drive in a 1965 Ford Galaxy 4 door with a 390 cubic inch engine. And yes, I had to para park that tank.

I installed the Rostra backup sensor system on my Tacoma. It took me quite a while (6 to 8 hours) to install it, but it did work well. If you are comfortable with removing trim panels and running wires, it is not a difficult install. The biggest issues I had were (1) running the wires through the frame rails; and (2) The sensor wires for the light duty truck system were so long and they were not the type of wires that you could cut and shorten. I probably had 10' to 15' of extra wire coiled up in my rear bumper. LOL, the version I purchased would have worked for a 25' - 30' motorhome. Drilling the holes for the sensors in the rear bumper was actually pretty easy. The kit came with the hole saw. I had the panel mounted above the rear-view mirror so it was out of the way, but easily visible. The system was quite accurate. It would start detecting at 90" and start beeping at @ 50". The closer you got the faster it would beep.

I just check my Amazon purchases and my system was Rostra 250-1903-BZTRK Rear Bumper Parking Assistance System for Light Duty Trucks.

We actually had this done to our 2020 crv. Dealership sourced and installed for us but it looks like they ordered an aftermarket package.

Was surprised it never came with it, seems all modern vehicles have them. Dealer added them at no cost. I will try to see what brand they used

I wish Iearned how in a compact car that like! I had to learn in a 1978 Lincoln Towncar with a 460. Take that Galaxy, make it a half foot wider and 20 inches longer lol.
