The premise of the system is to alert you first if there is enough time and if you fail to make corrections it will do what it can to midigate the crash.

I can say both the lane keeping and collision avoidance is more advanced than the one in my 2015 F150. Lane keeping in the Ranger is nearly perfect IMO. I have my sensitivity set to high and it will actually make a a complete 20-30 degree turn on a clearly marked highway as well as keep the truck within the lines (without bouncing between lines) with zero input from me. Although it does know when your hands are not on the wheel and will alert you within 15-20 seconds.

I think it’s a great system and can save lives on both your end and someone else’s.

It is amaznng how well it works and to think it does it through "Tourque Vectoring" which I take as using the Brakes to slow one side front wheels to slow down to move the Ranger right or Left as necssary. Obviously it csn't bre applying power to the front wheels since not all Rangers are 4x4 so it uses the Brakes instead to "steer" the Ranger.
It’s actually done with EPAS ( electronic power assist steering). This is the same way they use the park assist system in other ford vehicles like my SHO. The steering is controlled by the vehicle. Using the brakes to modulate steering would be very ineffiecnt and hard to quantify in a given driving condition except for use in the off road terrain management modes where it does use the brakes to modulate traction but not steering.

Also the trailer backing video game found on F-150. Hadn't thought of it til now, but if all the hardware is there, why didn't they include these two features on Ranger? Maybe because they're both silly? I guess that's a different conversation.

I would assume it’s not included because no one else in the midsize truck market offers it yet. Unfortunately, they always hold out on all the cool stuff until they are pressed to offer it.

I had the park assist option in my SHO and only used it as a “look what it can do” about 3 times in 5 years. Haha.

I would assume they want to keep at least some of the software toys exclusive to the f150 in order to segment the market. When they come up with something new the older stuff will trickle down.

Assisted braking kicked in today and help me avoid a accident. Man the Ranger stopped fast.

Not something you really want to test out by choice but I am glad it worked for you.
